To say that John Edwards surrounded himself by loyal women is an understatement. He recently added one more to the mix by acknowledging his paternity of 2-year-old daughter Quinn with Rielle Hunter. The former vice presidential candidate who rode largely on the ticket of being a "family man" had the public support of both his wife and mistress when news of the love child surfaced.

Mommy Dearest –
I'm at my wits' end. After school drop-off this morning, it came to my attention that two of the moms in my child's class were discussing me and my family's financial situation on their children's playdate. A number of the kids in the class are signing up for an extracurricular activity and I decided against putting my daughter in the class due to the cost.

It's one thing to try and distract your child when he falls on the playground to get him up and running again and another to expect him to contain his emotions. Yesterday, I was making a quick run into the grocery store to pick up juice bars for my whimpering son who had a sore throat and fever. As I took him out of the car, quiet tears were falling down his face and a nice man who had parked next to us smiled before kindly telling my three-year-old that "boys don't cry."

In a kind tribute to Jeff Bridges, who won the Oscar for best actor for his role in Crazy Heart, former costar Michelle Pfeiffer said that watching the actor play with his three towheaded daughters during breaks in filming taught her that having it all was possible. Then, in a grateful acceptance speech, Jeff thanked his parents for teaching him their craft, his wife Sue, and his "beautiful family" — girls Isabelle, Jessie, and Hayley — making it evident that he does have it all. Do you think a woman can too?

Does a chic short haircut make a girl a tomboy and her wearing a polo and sweater amount to cross-dressing? Does a lil guy wearing a tutu define his sexual preference? Most parents pride themselves on giving their children a better life than they had, but when it comes to gender roles is this true?

What is "spoiled" to some may be "spirited" to another. While some parents expect their children to march to the beat of an adult drummer, others delight in watching kiddos pave their own way with their defined personalities. Is a child who pitches a fit late at night in a toy store tired or spoiled?

No parent sets out to intentionally spoil their child, but inevitably it happens. Frequently over-indulged tots can turn a temper tantrum here and there into significant behavioral issues as they get older. If you could identify with several of the signs of a spoiled child, its time to take control of the situation and start "unspoiling" your lil one.

Spoil me rotten! They say you can't spoil a baby with endless amounts of holding, rocking, and cooing, but once that child passes the toddler years, over-indulgence can make for one ill-behaved tot. It's easy to pick out the spoiled kid on the playground, but much harder to turn a critical eye on ourselves.
