Throughout our time at the ABC Kids Expo, we saw hundreds of new products promising to help improve both parents' and kids' lives. While some left us scratching our heads, many looked promising. We've weeded through our notes and all of the literature we received to determine which finds we're most excited to see hit store shelves in the coming year. Take a look at our top nine picks and tell us — which look most exciting to you?
Cool Riders: 2013's New Car Seats Are Safe, Sleek, and Easier to Install Than Ever
Strollers weren't the only big story at the ABC Kids Expo this year. Car seats made a newsworthy appearance at the show, where one stroller company introduced its first car seat, a well-known car seat company unveiled its latest innovations, and a European company showcased its first foray into the US market. The common thread among the soon-to-be released seats? Manufacturers know that car seats are hard to install and parents don't usually do it right, so they've improved the LATCH systems, tweaked the installation process, and installed programs that inform parents when they aren't doing it correctly. Take a look at the latest innovations to come to car-seat design — we promise, you don't need an engineering degree to use them!
Eavesdropping: Baby Monitors Go Tech as Parents Want More Info Than Ever
You've come a long way baby — monitor. Gone are the days of listening for your newborn's cries over the constant sound of static on the baby monitor. Today's devices are not only clearer and virtually interference-free, but they also almost always include video and they're smartphone compatible, meaning parents who are out for the night or traveling for business can still peek in on their tots by simply opening an app on their phone.
At the recent ABC Kids Expo, we were also introduced to a new wave of devices that simultaneously monitor baby's breathing rhythms, position, and body temperature so new parents can rest a bit more easily at night. Ready to listen in on your tot? Take a look at the sophisticated monitors that will hit the market in the near future.
94 New Baby Products That Will Hit Store Shelves in the Coming Year
It was a baby bonanza in Louisville, KY, this week, as more than 3,000 exhibitors showcased their latest creations at the ABC Kids Expo, the largest annual juvenile-products trade show in North America. From strollers and car seats to bottles and breast-milk bags, I walked the rows (upon rows, upon rows) in search of the best new products for parents and kids. Among the standouts: a shearling baby carrier just in time for Winter, the return of a bottle that breastfeeding parents love, and car seats that don't require an engineering degree for proper installation. If you're following us on Instagram (which you should be; we're lilsugar1), you got a play-by-play as I made my way through the convention, but for the rest of the crowd, here's a peek at what will be hitting store shelves in the coming months — and stay tuned for continued coverage of my favorite finds in the coming days!
Which Products Do You Love to Hear About Most?
It's always fun to get a sneak peek at a product before it hits the market. That's exactly what I'll be doing this week while attending the ABC Kids Expo in Louisville, KY. Last year, we observed the convention from afar, but this year, I'll be meeting with the designers and execs from both the biggest and most established baby and kid brands, as well as the new ones that are debuting products for the first time. Want to come along? While I can't take you to Louisville, you can follow me on Instagram at lilsugar1 to see all of the new products, just like me!
But before I hit the convention floor, tell me, which of these products interest you the most?
