Tia Mowry Admitted She Coslept Until Her Son Was 4, Despite Pushback From Her Mom

Actress Tia Mowry-Hardrict isn't afraid to speak out about her decision to cosleep with both of her children. In an interview with People, the 41-year-old mom of two said that she bedshared with her 8-year-old son Cree until he was 4, and is still cosleeping with her 14-month-old daughter.

"My 1-year-old, ever since she was born, she was always in our bed. And my son was in our bed until he was 4," she explained, adding that while her husband Cory is OK with the decision, her mother is definitely not. "My husband's fine with it. Now, my mother on the other hand. She's like, so strict. She's like, 'You need to do the cry-out method. Put your baby in the crib.' And I'm like, 'No!' I don't want my baby to have any sign of stress whatsoever. You know?"

Although bedsharing is common, it's not actually recommended. "Infants should sleep in the same bedroom as their parents — but on a separate surface, such as a crib or bassinet, and never on a couch, armchair, or soft surface to decrease the risks of sleep-related deaths," according to a 2016 statement made by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
