Shawn Johnson First "Felt Like [She] Had Failed" When She Had a C-Section, but Then She Held Her Baby

Shawn Johnson has so much to celebrate, just days after giving birth to a rainbow baby girl, and yet, like many new moms, she is having her share of frustrating moments, too.

In a relatable Instagram post, the former Olympian revealed that her daughter's delivery didn't go according to plan.

"Twenty-two hours of labor to end in a c-section," she wrote. "I went in with such a stubborn mindset of thinking the only way I could bring our baby into the world was naturally. No meds, no intervention."

She continued, "At 14 hours when I chose to get an epidural, I felt guilty. At 22 hours when we were told I had to get a c-section, I felt like I had failed."

Like so many others in the exact same circumstance, this world-champion athlete couldn't help but think she'd given birth the wrong way. Luckily, she had a moment of clarity.

"But after holding our sweet girl in my arms and being told everything went well and she had made it to us safely, I could have cared less."

Shawn added that her world is no longer just hers but has "everything to do with" her baby girl. "It's all for her and I will forever do anything for this girl that I love more than I ever could imagine," she said. "A love no one can ever prepare you for."

In addition to thanking the doctors and nurses who "brought our baby girl into the world safely," the new mom ended her moving post with a sweet message for her husband, Andrew East.

"I meant it in the hospital when I said you will forever be my Number One, but she will now forever be our Number one together." Image Source:
