This Photo of 27-Day-Old Preemie Twins Meeting For the First Time Is So Damn Precious

At just 28 weeks and five days into her high-risk pregnancy, Ann Le was forced to deliver her twin girls, Olivia and Zoe, via C-section after they showed signs of distress. Because of their fragile states, the two-pound preemies, referred to by Ann and her husband Jason as their "momo twins" because they are Monochorionic Monoamniotic twins — or, rare identical twins who share a placenta and an amniotic sac — were immediately taken to the NICU, where they were cared for separately. It wasn't until 27 days after their birth that Zoe and Olivia were able to be reunited; but when they were, it was as if they were never apart, their bond shared from growing together in utero completely apparent.

"The girls had been separated for so long, and I was somewhat nervous to see what would happen when they were reunited," Ann told POPSUGAR. "But when little Zoe reached out her tiny arm over the back of her sister, it was as though time stood still for a moment. And that just for those few seconds, everything was perfect."

See a few of the first photos of the sweet twin girls ahead, including one where they're definitely pinkie swearing.
