A Military Dad Came Back From Deployment to Meet His 6-Month-Old, and the Photos Are Everything

James Chevalier, a member of the Army National Guard, was on a deployment when his now 6-month-old son, Caspian, was born. And while he missed Caspian's birth and first few months of life, James finally got the opportunity to meet his little one during an emotional homecoming in Duluth, GA. Brittany Leigh Photography captured the tender moments when James reunited with his wife, Mary, and their two sons, 4-year-old Gage and 6-month-old Caspian.

With her husband being deployed for nine months, Mary was thrilled to finally have her whole family in one place. She decided to use the opportunity to surprise Gage with his father's return. "My husband is very attentive to his children and really wants to be this amazing father figure to his kids," Mary told Good Morning America. "Seeing them come together for the first time . . . it seemed like Caspian had an immediate connection. It was like they already knew each other. It was very emotional."

"It was one of the most amazing and rewarding experiences I've ever had as a photographer," said Brittany. "It was an honor . . . and I will always remember it." Read ahead to get a look at this sentimental moment.
