Hilary Swank Says Being Pregnant Has Given Her a "Newfound Respect" For Women's Bodies

Hilary Swank is now in her third trimester with twins, and it has certainly shifted how she thinks about pregnancy — specifically the miracle of the human body and the food needed to power it.

"The first 16 weeks I had a lot of morning sickness," she said on "The Late Late Show With James Corden" on Jan. 9. "All I wanted was fruit. It's not that exciting, I know; it's not like pickles dipped in peanut butter, but a lot of fruit. To the point that one of my costars when they found out I was pregnant, they were like, "Oh that's why. That's why you eat 10 pomegranates a day, 50 pears.'" She added, "I just couldn't eat anything more than fruit. I know I needed that protein, so I threw some peanut butter in with my apples."

Morning sickness aside, she told James Corden and fellow guest Gwyneth Paltrow, "I love it. I feel like women are superheroes." The "Alaska Daily" actress is now at the 27-week mark and has a new appreciation for her body and what it can do. "I have such, like, a whole newfound respect. I mean, I love women, I've always loved women, but now, I'm like, 'Wow, we can do this!'"

In October 2022, the two-time Oscar winner announced her pregnancy on Good Morning America. "This is something that I've been wanting for a long time, and my next thing is I'm gonna be a mom," Swank said. "And not just of one, but of two. I can't believe it." The actor also told hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest that twins run in her family, explaining, "It's double excitement. My grandmother was a twin, my husband's grandmother was a twin, so we have twins in our lineage."

The 48-year-old also shared her excitement for becoming a mom in a recent Instagram post. "We couldn't wish for a more incredible miracle ✨ So grateful for these two gifts of a lifetime!! 🎁🎁," Swank captioned.
