Barack Obama's Thoughts on Social Distancing With Malia's Boyfriend Is Peak Dad

Barack Obama got some good, old-fashioned quality time with his 19-year-old daughter Malia's boyfriend amid the COVID-19 outbreak. While discussing sports and politics on an episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast, he briefly shared how Malia's beau social distanced with his family.

"Like I think a lot of families, we went through that first month where we were playing games every night and doing a little arts and crafts projects and then slowly, they started to get a little bored with us," he explained, noting that he and Michelle taught the kids how to play spades, which included a sufficient amount of "trash talk."

Although Obama wanted to find a reason to dislike him, the father of two admitted that Malia's boyfriend is an all-around awesome guy. "He's British. Wonderful young man, and he was sort of stuck because there was a whole visa thing and he had a job set up," he shared. "So we took him in, and I didn't want to like him, but he's a good kid. The only thing you discover . . . young men eat! It's weird to watch them consume food. My grocery bill went up about 30 percent."

Pretty much peak dad, right? Podcast host Bill Simmons seemed to agree, joking that it would be a great premise for a sitcom on Netflix or NBC. Listen until the end to learn more about Obama's new book, A Promised Land.
