Rub a dub dub, when is it time to graduate from the tub? Almost three quarters of you have babies that love the bath, but there comes a time when children start eyeing the shower. We're not quite there yet, though my 2-year-old son definitely wonders why his big sister sometimes washes off standing up.
When did your lil one move to a big kid shower?

Jimmy Choo
I haven't yet, and they 8 and nearly 6. Occasionally they hop in the shower with one of us if they need a quick clean up, but both enjoy baths much more.
1i thought it would be later like your kids greggie. my niece and nephews are 10 and 8 and still take baths (the twin 8 year olds still bathe together).
my daughter is only one...she still bathes, she has never taken a shower!
2My baby is obviously still too young, but I remember I was about 7, I think. I remember liking showers much better once I figured it out. And to this day I'm not big on baths.
3I was around 6 or 7 when my mom finally said "enough is enough, this is how you shower". it freed up her time.
4Also, the kids I used to babysit for were definitely around 5 or 6 when they would shower on their own.
Showering them wouldn't free up my time anymore than baths do, all I do is fill the tub. They wash themselves.
5my daughter's too young, but we've started "showering" already. she comes to the shower with me or her dad and we shower together. of course most of the time she still baths.
6Am I just overly paranoid ?
7But I think that picture is kinda wrong
Maybe I just watch too much Law and Order SVU
My daughter was 3 when she started showering.I have a bad back and it became extremely uncomfortable for me to bathe her in the tub anymore. She's 7 now, showers by herself, and still loves taking her bubble baths occassionally, but will always take a shower afterwards.
8The picture keeps bothering me as well. I realize she's covered in the essential places, but it still botheres me.
9I am glad i am not the only one creeped out by that picture
10the picture creeped me out that was my first thought, my son is almost 6 and still baths for him, my daughter is almost nine and she just started showering not too long ago.
11My 3-1/2 year old showers with us in the morning if she's "appears" dirty and we're in a rush. Otherwise she takes a night time bath with her little sister. She likes coming in the shower with me, but I don't necessarily enjoy it. She tried to come in with my recently but she caught me as I was about to step out, so I let her go in alone and I put some shampoo on her hair and let her do the rest.
12the picture doesn't bother me so much as how many people are saying their kids shower with them or their husband.. if i was a child I think i would be traumatized by grown up naked people, plus I don't feel like kids should see us naked, but maybe I am just a prude and this is a common practice...
13I agree with you, KitKat... And I didn't start showering until maybe 7? The same time I started swim lessons, because my mom wanted me to wash the chlorine out of my "nasty, stringy" hair.
14I'll agree to disagree on children seeing parents naked. I disagree but respect the differences.
15My kids are 4 and 2 and they love taking showers! I give them a bath when they want but most of the time they love to shower.
16I don't remember how old I was when I started taking showers.
My nephews are 8 & 6 and they still take baths when they come stay with me.
17as babies, we showered them as it was often easier than a tub. (although requiring two people!) my three and 1/2 year old takes an occasional shower, but the 2 year old doesn't like it. its definitely easier (and less messy) than a tub!
and BTW, there is absolutely nothing wrong with kids seeing their parents naked! especially when they're really young! i personally find is weird that some parents feel strange about that.
18since before he was 2. it is easier and quicker sometimes when im in a hurry
19well for me....i NEVER moved from the bath to the shower...i have always had baths and showers if i rlly have to, but baths are way relaxing and yea..never shower...always bathe.
20i dont shower or bathe with my kids never have and never will, but thats just me, im sure there has to be a cut off age, just like anything
21I wasn't saying I think it's wrong or anything, so don't get offended... I just think I'd feel weird about it.
22I don't think there is anything wrong with that photo ot with children seeing their parents naked. It's actually healthy for them to see their parents naked as it doesn't make nakedness something strange or weird or to be ashamed of.
As a child I showered from early on as we didn't have a bathtub.
23i used to shower with my mom when i was a kid and my sister does it with her baby so i don't see anything wrong/weird with it. but like greggie, i respect the differences.
amerikanbeanhead, me too! i watch waaay too much law and order svu. and i'm sorta paranoid too.
