Title Nine Sports End of Year Sale

Title Nine carries a great selection of fitness gear for women even though it is named after a piece of legislation. The clothing line's namesake, Title IX is an education amendment, "requires schools that receive federal funds to provide girls and women with equal opportunity to compete in sports."

Here's a stunning statistic before Title IX became law in 1972, only 1 in 27 high school girls played a sport. Today, 1 of every 2.5 high school girls competes in sports. Woo hoo - you go girls.

Of course, I think the catalog, and online models for Title Nine are awesome too. They are all real people just like you and me. Title Nine also has some of the best sports bras out there and one of the largest selections. Jessica Talks Tabloids, TV Shows and Marriage Vows in Cosmo

Jessica Alba looks gorgeous on the front cover of the March issue of Cosmopolitan UK. In the accompanying interview, Jessica talks about a possible TV show looking at the tabloids that her husband may put together with Lindsay Lohan, her opinions on supporting other actresses instead of being competitive, and the reason she decided to marry after being so set against it previously. Check out the highlights of her interview:

On rumours of her husband kissing Lindsay Lohan: “Lindsay’s had to deal with this for so long. Everyone has to live their life, and that’s what people forget when you’re in this business … she’s really nice. We hang out and chat for hours about girl stuff… my husband may do a TV show with [Lindsay] – ironically, about the ridiculousness of tabloids.”
On accepting what people say about her: “When people wrote lies about me before I had [my daughter] Honor, I’d get upset or I’d get nauseous or I’d get angry or I’d want revenge. Now, it’s like, it’s just so ridiculous and it’s not even close to being the truth.”
On being unique: “Everybody’s different. I’ve never wanted someone else’s career. I just wanted to be myself and hopefully be a role model, particularly to minorities and to women who don’t fit into the box of being fair, having blonde hair and being conventional, I guess.”

On being supportive: “… if women take on the attitude of lifting each other up instead of being competitive with each other, it’ll be better for all of us. There are amazing actresses – Zoe Saldana, Drew Barrymore, Julia Roberts, Jessica Biel, Eva Mendes – so I’m all about supporting each other instead of stepping on each other to succeed.”
On marriage: “I had a hard time agreeing with marriage at all because I feel like it’s been warped. Originally it was two families coming together to make a stronger family. It was about survival – not love or soulmates. And it wasn’t until the last, what, 100 years that we’ve put this onus on marriage being about finding your soulmate. And now, the way they market marriage – even as a kid through Disney movies – is that it’s all about Prince Charming sweeping you off your feet. There’s this mentality that you need the big dress and the big day – the day every girl gets to be a princess. I didn’t agree with any of that.”
On deciding to do it: “I chose to get married because, essentially, you’re given a deck of cards in life… the one person you can choose to bring into your life as your family and to have that unconditional love with is your husband or wife. I’m choosing you as my family, and we’re going to love each other through thick and thin.”
On not taking traditional vows: “This tradition of obeying your husband like he’s king? It’s a load of crap. Love and honour, yes. But you should love and honour yourself too, and your friends.”
On her childhood illness: “I was ill pretty much the whole time. I had bad asthma so every time I got a cold, I got pneumonia and would have to be hospitalised, and I had terrible allergies that gave me asthma attacks. I’d miss school so did all of my work from the hospital. I ended up finishing my school work early and got straight As, so then got bored when I was in class. I spent a lot of time alone and daydreamed a lot. I lived in my head and I didn’t have any friends – not really.”
On her daughter: “I used to harp on about my insufficiencies, but after Honor I forgave myself for not being perfect. I stopped trying to be a crowd pleaser and accepted my flaws, and then, in turn, you accept everyone else’s. Having kids puts everything in perspective.”

Myleene Proves Her Class to Cosmopolitan

Myleene Klass is the cover star of Cosmopolitan UK's February 2010 issue. She proved what a trooper she is by presenting BBC's New Year Live whilst recovering from food poisioning, and she's got lots to look forward to in 2010 as host of ITV's new classical reality show Pop Star to Opera Star. Amidst all this she found time to chat about her relationship, her wedding plans, and hosting the US version I'm a Celebrity. Here are the highlights:

On her relationship with Graham (Gray) Quinn: "I love his little Ned, the little belly that he has. And I’m sure he loves mine. But you have to be careful. I threw out 20 pairs of cotton knickers the other day that I’m going to replace with M&S lacy ones."
On romantic gestures: "I do try to keep the romance in my relationship with the little things. That's what it's about for me. I don't want a great big gesture. I wouldn't expect flowers for Valentine's Day. I'd like a flower. And he built me a walk-in wardrobe. Now that’s what I call a romantic gesture."
On past relationships: "I don’t think Gray and I set out to say this is it forever but I’ve been through enough bad relationships… I’ve been cheated on; I used to have this guy who’d block the door if he didn’t want me to leave, which, though it wasn’t physical to me, it was physical. When someone’s playing with your mind, it will stay with you and it took a lot for Gray to break that down."

On getting engaged five years ago but still not setting the date to get married: "I know! … I had every intention of getting married the next year but things happen. We know what’s paramount and nothing would change if we got married. We will get married one day. It was going to be the whole white wedding, the church bells, the whole thing but I think one day we'll be sitting in the Caribbean and someone will walk past and we'll say, 'Can you be a witness?' It'll be spontaneous."
On who her bridesmaids would be: "Obviously I’d have my little one, and I’d have Lauren Laverne too. She’s godmother to Ava and lives just down the road from me. She’s brilliant."
On whether infidelity would be a deal breaker: "It would depend on the circumstances. I wouldn’t be so quick to judge. It’s never going to be good but I’d hear the full story. No one’s perfect, myself included. My 20-year-old self might have made a very sharp comment but my 30-year-old self would have to weigh up the options and try to behave like a grown-up. And I’d have to resist the urge to go out and scratch ‘I hate you’ into his car."
On 2009: "[It was] a roller coaster. All the ups have been my daughter - and they’re ‘straight through the clouds’ up. There have been some hard times this year - bereavements - but you get up the next day and keep going. I’m a bit like a company where, however good things are, next year always has to be better. Otherwise it’s just maintenance, isn’t it?"
On hosting the US version of I’m A Celebrity: "That was incredible but I don’t have this huge ambition to crack America. I don’t know why someone decided that America was the be all and end all. My career high of the year was walking into Mothercare with Ava and buying the first gilet that I designed from scratch for the Baby K range. This woman in the queue went, ‘Surely you don’t have to buy that?’ and I was like, ‘You’re totally missing the point. I have to buy this’."
On expectations: "It's funny, the expectations aren't there for me because I was always the person in the band who no one expected that much from … I was the one who sat at the piano and ate too many pies. It was an issue for everyone else
but I can’t be what I’m not, and being 5ft 5in and of mixed race - with my dad’s knobbly knees - has got me a job working for Marks & Spencer next to Twiggy, Erin and all these supermodels. If I was 6ft 8in with an aquiline nose I wouldn’t have got the job."

Billie Piper Gets Candid With Marie Claire

Billie Piper is on the front cover of Marie Claire's February issue looking beautiful, and inside she talks in her usual candid way about her personal life and career. Lovely Billie chats about her hubby Laurence Fox and their son Winston, ex-husband Chris Evans, and her thoughts about the future. The issue is out now, but here are a few excerpts:

On her and Laurence's different fanbases:"It's funny, when Laurence and I go out into the countryside I think a few of the older locals actually believe I'm a whore! They love Laurence because he's in Lewis, and his fan club are basically in their mid-sixties and upwards. They love him. It's sickening! They follow him around; they want to mother him. I mean, there are places he can't go - like Mecca Bingo or the bowling green! - but he loves it. Then they look at me and are like, "That slag! How could you dirty yourself with her? She's corrupted you!"'
On whether Winston was planned: "Well, you do make an active decision that you're not going to use condoms or whatever. Then there's that, "I am so in love, I just want to have your baby!" It's such a hot thing, it's so gorgeous. "We fell in love, I want you to impregnate me!" I don't know what's not hot about that. And also, making a child in the throes of love instead of, "Oh, I suppose we should knock one out.'"
On discovering she was pregnant, on the set of Doctor Who: 'Laurence was there and I remember feeling really tired. And I just thought I was pregnant. We did two tests in my trailer. We laughed because we were so nervous. Such a great moment, but terrifying."

On her friend's opinion of her life: "I'm the first one to be married. Twice. Married, divorced, married, baby. They were really pleased because when I met Laurence, I used to go on and on and on about the fact that I wanted to breed with him. I really wanted to have his baby, more than wanting to marry him!' She pulls herself up: 'Okay. This is me. Do it. Worry about the consequences later. So that's why planning goes out the window. Because I'm massively impulsive.'
On ex-hubby Chris Evans selling their things: "What's so funny is that people remind me of that now and I kind of think, 'What's wrong with me that I didn't feel at all sad about that sale?' I didn't see it as anything other than him wanting to sell loads of stuff. He had a massive life before and, you know, he loves charity and he loves giving. I went down and had drinks there, like some fan, and had pictures taken with people on the sofa we used to share together, and didn't feel at all sad about it. Isn't that weird? We had a very. Not strange, but unique relationship. I think that maybe the reason I didn't feel sad about it is because our relationship didn't end on bad terms. I didn't want anything. I wanted to still be friends and love one another but move on. And I often think you can get bogged down in the finances, the possessions, those things that make it strange."
On the decision to marry again: "You know how you see old people walking hand in hand, and you think, 'I want to be them.' You see them on the street and you think, 'What does it take to walk hand in hand with someone when you're 80 years old?' - especially nowadays when you can just part ways so easily. You want that. And I think that's why I wanted to marry again because I do want that. You see it and you think, 'That's it. That's love. That's compromise. That's years of screaming at someone. Or forgiveness.' All of these things that it takes to be in some kind of unity. But it's hard, when you're in it, to think that far ahead."
On the future: "I don't know whether it's because I had the singing career first, but you just think, "When is this going to stop? When am I finally going to feel sated?" As fun as it sounds, basically you're just in a different trailer in another part of the world. I'd like to do a Broadway show. Can you imagine..?"

Natalie Portman Natters About Nudity and New Challenges

Natalie Portman is on the cover of this month's Elle magazine, and inside she dishes to the mag about her upcoming movie Brothers, her image, the future and on screen nudity. Here are some extracts:

On nudity: "I’m definitely not a prude about sex or nudity. I just don’t want do something that will end up as a screen grab on a porn site... so meanwhile I’m doing halfsies. I’m like, 'I’ll show my butt but not my boobs.' Nobody really cares about butts."

On her image: "The good-girl image was something I consciously cultivated after Léon. There was a lot of controversy about the whole Lolita thing. My parents were super-protective about it, but I got a lot of weird letters. It was really upsetting. I didn’t want to be seen as a sex object, so I went the opposite direction... You look at Meryl Streep, who is so phenomenally, freakishly gorgeous, and in some ways it’s just bizarre that she was never a sex symbol. But it was always about her – and now it doesn’t matter that she’s getting older, because we just want to continue watching her be an interesting person. Whereas you see actresses who marketed themselves on their bodies, and they might be good, but over time they just lose it because that sort of thing doesn’t last."

On marriage: "It’s funny, some of my actress friends and I talk about how none of us have the big wedding obsession that other girls our age have, and I think it’s because what girls experience on their wedding day happens a few times a year for us. Any time you go to a premiere, you get your hair and make-up done and everyone is looking at you. So when I’m not working, I want to be comfortable. That’s why sometimes I see pictures of myself and I’m like, 'What am I wearing?'"

On her role in Brothers: "It’s every woman’s fantasy, isn’t it? To have two guys fighting over her?... I’ve known both of them (Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire) for a long time, so it’s pretty amazing to work with people you have that level of familiarity with, even though it’s challenging to be a different character with somebody who knows you as you... I would bake on weekends and go have snowball fights with the girls who played my daughters in order to lighten things up. But with the guys it wasn’t so easy. They got very dark."

On venturing into comedies in the future: "It wasn’t that I didn’t want to do comedy. It’s just that I would only get offered girlfriend parts in guy comedies, which aren’t exciting to me, or those offensive roles in romantic comedies where the woman has to have a job in fashion so that she can have nice clothes, and her goal is always marriage. I’m more interested in finding characters that make me laugh."
