Temporary Tattoos as Art?

If those $78 Chanel temporary tattoos aren't up your alley but you're still looking to use your hard-earned cash on some high-end temporary ink, the Whitney Museum's gift shop is now selling this temporary tattoo art ($35). Jenny Holzer, the artist who created them, has a history of sticker art and often works with ephemera, so this project makes sense, and the tats are alternately hilarious and oddly poignant. The Whitney's billing them as collectibles and only did a print run of 200, so if you're interested I suggest moving fast. What do you think of the arty faux tats that have come out lately, though? Is it fun, or just a particularly ridiculous trend?

Tots love realistic looking temporary tats, but these skin stickers are more than art. Tattoos with a Purpose started the line of arm appliques for parents to adhere to their children's limbs before field trips, vacations, and outings in crowded areas.

For young ones who have yet to memorize their phone numbers, adults can scribble them or the name of the child's school on the tattoos and the kids are good to go. If children get lost, the information will help them reconnect with their groups. Special stickers are also available for children with peanut allergies, autism and the hearing impaired.

The stickers and marking can last up to between three and five days if treated properly and it is advised to apply the sticker to a place that the wearer is aware of, but not the general public - under an arm sleeve, etc..

The $10 kit contains six lost and found stickers, a purpose marker, six moist towelettes for applying and six alcohol wipes for removing, not to mention it buys a piece of mind.

Would You Wear Chanel's Temporary Tattoos?

When you think of Coco Chanel, do you think of tattoos? You might now. The temporary tattoos from Chanel's Spring 2010 collection are actually going to be sold at Selfridges starting March 1. The tattoos, which feature the iconic double C's, lace, rosary beads, Karl Lagerfeld's beloved chains, and some Cinderella-worthy birdies, are definitely pretty. What they aren't is inexpensive: the set is supposed to retail for $78. That's dirt cheap for Chanel, but outrageously expensive for some temporary ink. What do you think about this, though? Would you pay the price to own a little piece of Chanel in-season?

Chanel's Temporary Tats Now Available!

Now you can officially channel your inner Chanel with the luxe brand's much anticipated Les Trompe L'Oeil Temporary Skin Art ($75 for five sheets of 55 designs). The temporary tats, which last a couple of days - or longer, depending how frequently you shower or rub against them - are applied pretty much like any other temporary tattoo, and are easily removed with a washcloth and warm water or by rubbing with a cream or lotion.

Created by Peter Philips, Chanel's global creative director, and inspired by the luxury brand's Spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection (see images from the show below), the skin transfers, featuring decorative designs like pearls, chains, sparrows, blossoms, and the famous Chanel logo, are available now for a limited time at Chanel.com and Chanel boutiques and makeup studios. Considering most of you were initially open to the idea of sporting the decorative designs, do you plan on getting inked now that they're out?

Will You Be Getting a Trendy Transfer Tattoo?

For those of you who are interested in testing out the goth waters, but are afraid to commit to anything more than a deep purple lipstick, get excited, because beginning 1 March, Chanel is launching their next affordable must-have beauty accessory called Les Trompe L’œil de Chanel, or, temporary tattoos.

They come in a sheet that contains a package of 55 different inkies that last about a week and are comprised of different Coco Chanel inspired patterns like birds, flowers, pears and necklaces that can be worn around the arm, ankle or thigh (how very Cheryl Cole of you Chanel)!

The entire sheet costs £49 and can be purchased in Chanel Boutiques and at Selfridges in London.
