Before having babies, I used to pamper my hands and feet every so often with a relaxing mani and pedi. Since becoming a mother, I have hardly had time to sit in a vibrating massage chair with someone else tending to my toes. With sandal season approaching, I needed to find a way to clean up my feet without dealing with spa appointments and sitters.

I remember getting my first manicure before my eighth grade dance. It was a big deal and I appreciated how special the gift was from my mother. I didn't notice my eyebrows were bushes to be reckoned with until my first year of college.

Madonna's mini me, daughter Lourdes Leon recently took a break from her brothers, Rocco and David and got girly at a Beverly Hills beauty parlor.
The dark haired preteen seemed to enjoy the perks of being a material girl as she indulged in a mani-pedi. And, wearing a skull hair band and black leggings, the eleven-year-old opted for dark polish to finish off her look.

I just read a little blurb about pedicurist Bastien Gonzalez, who works on celebrities including Naomi Campbell and Gwyneth Paltrow and flies around the world to tend to the feet of the filthy rich. This translates to "18,688 miles traveled per week; 3 passports owned; 10 clients per day; 3,000 pedicures in 2006; 18 pedicurists trained last year; 10 pedicurists fired last year; and 1 buffing chamois used per month."

Amber at Beauty Blogging Junkie unearthed this watermelon pedicure, available at Eve nail salon in New York. The treatment features a watermelon-scented foot bath and lotion application, with optional fruit-themed nail art. You already know I'm not a fan of French pedicures, so it's no surprise that I wouldn't go for watermelon-themed toenails.

Oh, look out! These boots might look like Uggs, but they're Bootie Pies ($128), a style of boot designed particularly for winter pedicures. The idea is to slip your pre-polished feet into the boots, then push the front flap down when it's time for lacquer application.

Granted, Great Britain isn't sunny, warm or sandal-friendly for most of the year, but having beautiful feet are a fetish of mine. I feel instantly more feminine after getting my feet scrubbed, buffed, smoothed and my toes polished in a pretty shade.
On average, I get a pedicure about every three weeks.

Don't laugh, but I like to have pedicure night every weekend. I'll whip up a great dinner, pop in an old movie and give myself a pedicure on the couch. It's a nice way to pamper myself on the cheap, and this way my feet always look presentable.

Winter is a beautiful time of year, filled with days on the mountain, nights sipping hot cocoa, and snuggling in front of a good movie.
Unfortunately, winter and feet don't really get along too well. You're always cramming your toes into boots that don't let your feet breathe.

Baring your feet in summer can be almost as scary as wearing a revealing bikini. After a winter of being stuffed into thick socks and boots, your feet may well be looking a little less than sweet.
Your first port of call should be an expert pedicure – go to a salon that's not just about painting your toes a pretty colour, but focuses on solving any potential problems, from in-grown toe nails, to callouses and hard skin.
