10 Useful iPhone Tips and Tricks

The second I got my new iPhone I started playing around with it - even before I read the entire instruction manual (oops). With the latest software release on the iPhone 3GS, Apple introduced a lot of simple fixes that help solve everyday annoyances and hangups with the phone. Do You Use a Case For Your Cell Phone?

Megan Fox has a sexy little package - in her hand that is. She was spotted toting her black iPhone 3G the other day, even multitasking with her coffee thermos in the same hand as the phone (a balancing act I'm familiar with). The last time we checked in with her, not only did she have a first generation iPhone, but she put that one in a protective case.

Her black 3G, though, isn't getting the same treatment, and though I love the way my sleek phone feels sans case, if I'm walking around - and especially, juggling - I'm scared enough of dropping my phone that I put it in a case. However, pre-smartphone, I never used a case, but that was also when I spent way less moola on my cell phones.

Techjoyment: Boys and Their Toys

Since it's Friday, I couldn't think of a better excuse to bring you three heapings of techjoyment - because I know and you know, it's been awhile! Ashton is the geeky leader of the pack with his sexy and sleek iPhone 3G; then there's Barack rockin' what appears to be his beloved BlackBerry; and last but not least, Tom Cruise snapping some photos with his BB Bold at Daytona this week. Take Cool Lomo-Like iPhone Pics With Quadcam

I can't help but get excited when I find new apps and accessories that make my iPhone camera photos crisp and unique. Because I'm constantly sniffing around in the App Store, I've found ways to take black-and-white iPhone photos for free, and now I can take pics that look like it came from a Lomo Oktomat or CyberSampler camera with a cool new app called Quadcam.

Quadcam allows your camera to take multiple photos within seconds of each other. You can adjust timing to get a rapid-fire effect, or choose to let the shutter snap in longer intervals. Plus, you can choose between four or eight single shots in one or two rows, and between black and white or full color. The best part is, it will only cost you $2 to get some pretty sweet results. Take the photo above for example. It was my first attempt with the app, and I think it looks pretty sick.

I've been there before: I wanted a certain gadget for Christmas, but due to financial constraints, availability, or just plain oversight, I did not find them in my stocking or under the tree come Christmas morning. It's gonna be OK. Take all that cash you've accumulated from your relatives, or just go ahead and splurge (you never know when prices will dip this low again) and get what you really wanted for Christmas. Best of 2008 Winner: Favorite New Gadget

Applause, please! Not only has the iPhone 3G already won Favorite Cell Phone of 2008, geeksugar readers have bestowed yet another Best of 2008 win: Favorite New Gadget of 2008!

Are you going to make me say it? Alright, twist my arm: It's also my favorite new gadget of the year. Because of it, I don't get lost, I know what movies are playing at any time, I can find out songs that are playing . . . the list goes on, people.

With 33 percent of the vote, it bested other splashy entries like the Wii Fit and the MacBook Air. Did this surprise you at all? Considering it only debuted six months ago, it's shaping up to be the year of the iPhone 3G.

It came as no surprise that the iPhone 3G takes the top spot as your favorite cell phone of 2008 (with 51 percent of the vote!), given that it was also your favorite new Apple product this year as well. And let's be honest - it's a known fact that I am a iPhone fan, so I'd have to agree with you that the iPhone 3G is the clear favorite in 2008.

You can't really go wrong with the iPhone's speedy 3G connectivity, and endless amounts of Apps that help make your life easier, more fun, and get you to where you need to go faster. I know that if I didn't have my iPhone, it would be like missing a limb, and then where would we be?!
