The Laurence Olivier Awards took place at Grosvenor House Hotel last night, and a whole host of dashing gents were suited and booted for theatre's big night out. James Corden brought Gavin and Stacey costar Sheridan Smith along as his date for the evening — what a lovely couple — while inside he sat at a table and messed about with his old History Boys costar Dominic Cooper. Sir Patrick Stewart won his third Olivier award last night, for his role in Hamlet, while Kevin Spacey presented an award and showed up with Andrea Corr on his arm and musical stars Jason Donovan and Gareth Gates chatted up a storm.

It’s hard to care too much about someone as obnoxious as Sidney Young, the main character of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, played by Simon Pegg. Having a main character as unlikable as Sidney is one of the key things that doesn't work in it. There are some things that do work — a few funny bits, some great comedic performances — but they don't quite make up for the experience of watching the movie as a whole, which ends up being just kinda "meh."

At the premiere of How To Lose Friends and Alienate People, actress Gillian Anderson looked gorgeously glowing. Her tousled hair looked healthy and shiny, while the natural makeup gave her a more sophisticated look than we've seen lately.
Gillian's makeup artist for the night was Paul Herrington, who is also Bobbi Brown's UK Head of Artistry.

London's Leicester Square played host to the premiere of Simon Pegg's new movie How To Lose Friends And Alienate People last night. Kirsten Dunst and Megan Fox were unable to attend, but glowing Gillian Anderson and stylish Margo Stilley were there to represent the rest of the cast. Simon's best mate Nick Frost also showed up, along with lovely Martin Freeman, Gok Wan, Kirstie Allsopp and Guillemots.

The X Files: I Want To Believe premiered in London's Leicester Square last night, with the lovely and rather pregnant Gillian Anderson saying it was a bigger turnout than the LA premiere. She also said that they were on board for another movie if this one does well, and said this film is more of a "particular creepy story", which also develops Mulder and Scully's relationship rather than an all-out special effects blockbuster like the movie that's overshadowing everything at the moment: The Dark Knight.
Other stars in attendance included Tom Fletcher and Harry Judd from McFly who are still looking a little tanned after our jaunt to T4 On The Beach, Sam and Amanda Marchant, Chanelle Hayes and a very demure looking Mary Elizabeth Winstead who I have an exclusive interview with for you later on today!

You can count me among the fans — but not the super-fanatics — of The X-Files when it aired in the '90s. I may not have been as insane about it as others, but I kept up with the weird, spooky drama and I looked forward to new episodes. Plus, Gillian Anderson's character, Dana Scully, is a strong, female sci-fi heroine of sorts, and I really looked up to her at the time.

Here we are, 10 whole years after the last X-Files movie and fans of the show will finally get another (perhaps last?) taste of two of the most beloved sci-fi characters of our time: Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. While X-Files: I Want to Believe is supposed to be a stand-alone story (so, you don't have to know the whole history of the show to enjoy it), I still think we could all use a little brush-up on our X-Files trivia.
If you, too, are hearing that spooky theme music in your head, take my quiz!
