Up and at 'em! While some kids are up with the birds, others seem to need a splash of cold water to wake from a sound slumber. Help transition your children to getting up on their own with a personal alarm clock.

If the early bird gets the worm, my daughter could open a bait shop and sell them wholesale. Maybe it's normal for a two-year-old to wake up before sunrise, but it's beyond rough to deal with a newborn all night and then a toddler at 5 a.m. I would be willing to dole out a decent chunk of change if I could get her to stay in bed for another hour or three!

As a mother to a 22-month-old, the last thing I need in my life is an alarm clock. Aside from occasional use for early airport trips, my daughter is up with the roosters and ready to crow.
If there were ever a day where I thought sleeping in may be a reality, I'd go with it.

There are some pretty fun alarm clocks out there, but this weekend the internet was abuzz over a different kind of alarm clock. According to Scotland's Daily Record, Quaker Oats is testing a bedside alarm in the UK. Now you'll be able to wake up to a warm bowl of porridge or oatmeal each and every morning.

This may look like a retro clock where you have to hit the side bells to get it to stop ringing (this part is true), but what you don't see is its unique modern capabilities. This clock easily connects to your PC or laptop via a USB connection so you can transfer audio of your choice to it. That's right, you aren't stuck with that annoying and loud bring-bring alarm sound.

I'm a fan of early morning workouts; they wake up the body and the mind. I always have way more energy the rest of the day, and feel good knowing I don't have to try and squeeze a workout in later. The problem is, motivating in the morning is not the easiest, and most of the time when my alarm clock goes off, I want to throw it out the window and sleep for another hour.

An iron plus an iPod equals what you ask? How about an iron radio alarm clock by Brando. This battery powered pink iron with built-in FM radio displays both the time and date on the back of the iron.

Although it would be totally satisfying to shoot your alarm clock with a laser gun to get it to turn off (like the one I featured a while back), I don't think it will actually get me out of bed. What will? Angry, angry friends, relatives and co-workers.

I hate having things plugged in next to my head when I'm sleeping, and I hate the glowing digits of digital alarm clocks even more. Thus, I've been on the hunt for a good alarm clock for a while now, but I haven't found anything yet that really inspires me to shell out some cash. In light of these facts, for last week's Casa Craving Challenge, I asked you to hunt down and bookmark the best-looking, coolest, most retro, or most contemporary alarm clocks you can find.

Alarm clocks have sure come a long way over the years. Instead of being forced to wake-up by the shrill sound of an old school alarm clock, we now have the choice to be serenaded by nature sounds or gradual light exposure.
The Homedics SoundSpa Fusion Alarm Clock($60) could easily belong with the rest of my sleek alarm clocks selections with its large LCD display and five interchangeable face plates.
