Children dream of going to the wonderful world of Disney to meet their heroes, wear mouse ears, ride the Dumbo ride, and eat cotton candy. And, most parents love taking their kids to Disney to fulfill those childhood fantasies while relaxing a little bit themselves. Apparently, some adults, in the midst of all things Disney, will be able to relax kid free according to a Tampa Bay news report.

I while away many weekends at the Victoria and Albert Museum (pictured below) in London indulging my inner fashion geek. They rarely have a major exhibition that I miss (most recently I visited the Stephen Jones Anthology) and they have great evening events too. Do you spend time checking out fashion exhibitions?

London's Victoria & Albert Museum is currently displaying New York fashion from greats like Zac Posen (dress pictured), Derek Lam, Behnaz Sarafpour and Proenza Schouler; and though many of us won't be able to see their designs in person, we can still see them through pics! The exhibit focuses on sportswear, menswear, avant-garde, atelier and celebrity, and ends on September 23rd.

This is already one of the most talked about exhibitions of 2009 so I couldn't wait to get down to The V&A to check it out. It opened at the end of London Fashion Week with a big party (with lots of hats!) and runs until the end of May.
Stephen Jones is one of the most celebrated milliners of the modern age and has designed headwear for many of the major fashion houses including John Galliano, Giles Deacon, Gareth Pugh and Comme des Garcons.

Top television presenters Gok Wan and Alan Carr showed up to a publishing party at the V&A in London yesterday on the hottest day of the year so far. The capital was absolutely sweltering yesterday and slightly sunburned Alan looks like he's feeling the heat a little in that suit. Gok managed to look cool in his shades as he arrived, swapping them for his Alan-alike glasses for the photographers.

Dutch designer Maarten Baas's "Smoke" is a series of a charred furniture finished with an epoxy resin so that the pieces are preserved instead of destroyed. A 2004 exhibition called "Where There's Smoke" at Moss in New York showcased the collection of 25 one-off pieces, including iconic designs by Gaudi, Eames, Rietveld, Sottsass, and the Campana Brothers among others, which had each been burned with a blow torch and then salvaged with the translucent sealant. At the exhibit, the pieces were put in a timeline from antique to modern, grouping pieces like a grandfather clock and chaise lounge together, and a second stage of pieces like an Eames LCW chair and Noguchi coffee table from 1900-1950 together.
