Does Red Dye No. 40 Cause Behavioral Outbursts in Children?

You are what you eat and so the saying goes, but a group of parents believe that the food coloring their children digest affects their behavior. Commonly found in processed foods like Twizzlers, Doritos and Twinkies as well as baked goods, red dye no. 40 is to blame for aggressive outbursts in kids according to some moms and dads. The FDA maintains that the dye is safe for consumption. What's your opinion?

Ruffles have been gracing more than the edges of red carpet gowns of late, adding a touch of fancy to the home on pillows, bedding, and shower curtains. For instance, this Martha Stewart Ruffle Throw ($40) would bring a subtle element of femininity to even the most dapper sofa.

Gear Review: Freya Sports Bra

When you're heavy on top, finding a sports bra is downright frustrating. Most aren't made for women who are over a D cup - let alone DD-H. Even if you do manage to squeeze yourself into one, you end up with a very unattractive uniboob and barely there support. When Freya - one of my favorite bra companies - came out with an active line, I was overjoyed. (Without divulging too much, I have a small ribcage at 32 inches with an ample bosom.) Freya gets women with larger bust sizes. They even understand that some women have a large cup size but can still be small in the frame.

The look. The Freya Active 4002 underwire sports bra ($60) is not pretty, but most bras in my size aren't. More boob means I need more support, which means more fabric. The red version with the black trim is the most stylish and sporty of the bunch. But the rest of them (black, white, nude) have a sort of 1950s bullet bra pinup girl look to them that is kind of cool. If you don't need the full support of an underwire, they also offer a soft cup version for sizes 28-40, C-H.

The fit. Talk about support - nothing is moving in this bra. Both the bottom band and underwire provide amazing support without suffocating you. The wide straps have a slight padded feel to them, which is an added plus for comfort. But my favorite part is that it's an encapsulation bra. Most sports bras keep you in place by pressing your breasts firm against your chest. Encapsulation bras surround and support each breast individually instead. This is awesome because there is no uniboob - quite the opposite, in fact. You are lifted and the natural shape of your body is still apparent. I also like that there are four closure settings on the back. As the bra stretches out, you can move the hook a few times before having to buy a new one. It's also made from a thicker material than a normal bra, which adds to the comfort and durability of the bra. It's available in sizes 28-38, D-H.

Performance. This bra gets a solid A+ from me. Because of its CoolMax fabric, it wicks away sweat and also dries extremely fast. There're also mesh panels on the back of the bra that help keep you cool when wearing it. But what's most important is that I am totally and utterly supported when I wear my Freya sports bra. Whether I am bending over in a yoga pose, climbing, or jogging, my girls stay lifted. It's also built to last - the bras I bought a year ago still feel new and I haven't had to replace them yet.

Fab Exclusive! Project Runway's Jay Talks About Second Win and Why Nina's Opinion Matters Most

Jay Nicolas Sario is proving to be quite the competitor on Project Runway. Last night, San Francisco's own had his second victory for the Hard Wear challenge. Do you agree with the winner and loser? His first win proved he's legit, and now he's further solidified his place in the competition. We had a quick chat with the designer about why he chose a garbage bag, which judge's approval he seeks most, and who his biggest competition is.

Why did you choose garbage bags over anything else?

I chose the garbage bags for no reason. All the designers were not able to sketch a design concept before going to the hardware store, so it was challenging to pick items that I had no idea what to make of. I was not in favor of the garbage bags in the beginning due to the fact that it can almost be used as a fabric, and this was a challenge that pertained to "innovation," but I still kept them just in case. My design organically came together as I worked with the materials I found and that includes a drywall self-adhesive mesh tape that I utilized to give the garbage bags structure and leather like texture. As a finishing touch, I used Gapers tape to add color onto the entire look.

In your opinion, who are the strongest competitors?

Seth Aaron’s ability to consistently convey his strong point of view is threatening. He came to compete knowing what he’s made of, versus someone like me who’s still trying to identity his aesthetic as a designer. But I do feel that I have an advantage due to the sense of surprise I bring to the table each week. There’s also Emilio, who can construct a garment beautifully. But I do question his taste, and that's something I have already established and the judges recognize my sophisticated taste.

What did you think of Emilio’s design?

Emilio’s design looked like a $1.50 stripper outfit, and I thought he bought his materials from the adult store that’s literally next to the hardware store. The concept was theatrical but it looked low budget. If he had more metal washers, he would have accomplished his original design intent.

Which has been the toughest challenge yet?

The red dress challenge kicked my ass. Not only was I limited to the color red but a woman with real vital statistics. I’m talking about 40-30-39. I had no choice but to fully embrace my model's figure. I was happy in the end and at the same time wondered why I was not in the top three.

And most exciting?

The Marie Claire challenge was the most coveted of all challenges. Everyone wanted to win this challenge due to the attached price. I made a dress that moved beautifully and a lot of women who are getting married have actually been asking me to remake the dress for their wedding so it’s exciting!

Whose approval do you seek most from the judges?

Nina’s approval matters the most out of all the judges. The more Nina likes me, the better chances I have of winning the competition because, at the end of the day, she gets to chose who she wants to feature in her magazine.

Double-Check These 3 Things Before Booking Flights Online

In a perfect world, I'd never experience another layover. Ever. Yet, even though the closest airport serves most of my standard routes, I still find myself making those familiar connections when visiting family that don't live near a hub. Since I always aim to get the best flight deal possible, I usually check out travel websites as well as the airline's page itself. After honing in on the best price, never neglect to look at these three things, too:

Check layover length. "It wouldn't show me this if it were impossible for a non-superhuman." Wrong. While I've spotted itineraries with layovers of 40 minutes or less, if the first flight leaves just 20 minutes late, or you arrive into A and out of D, it's time to kiss that connection goodbye. Know that anytime you choose a domestic flight with less than one hour (two hours for international), you're more likely to run - and run into - problems.

Check departure/arrival dates. Yes, it's usually in red, but remember that red-eyes arrive the next day so, if you want that, search the prior date. Also, many websites that spit out the cheapest fares first . . . have not-so-fun additions like a 10 p.m. layover arrival followed by a 6 a.m. layover departure - hello, sleeping at the airport.

Check airline changes. One of the greatest risks when cutting a flight close is the bags. While people may be willing to run, there's no guarantee your luggage will as quickly make it off plane no. 1 and onto plane no. 2. Adding a new issue is hopping from one airline to another after a connection - it's easier to re-route or relocate a bag when only dealing with the same company from the start.

Hi everyone, I have a huge cold and to hide my red nose, I did these eyes today. They're still perfect for school or work even though they are fairly bright, but they're also very, very easy. I used Laura Mercier Foundation Primer ($30), followed by a mixture of Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in 140 Soft Beige ($40) and Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer ($42). I used Laura Mercier Undercover Pot ($34) in no. 3, which contains the Secret Camouflage and Secret Concealer as concealers, and the Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($20) to set everything.

On my eyes, I used Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($18). I used 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Graffiti, which I bought in the 24/7 Super Stash ($36). To set the liner, I used Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow in Graffiti ($18). I set it even though it's a waterproof liner because it's snowing outside and I'm sneezing and have a cold, so I needed some extra security. This also adds to the depth of the color. After this, I used my Bare Escentuals Buxom Lashes mascara and I was done.
