Pregnant Man Expecting Second Child!

I'm sure you've all heard about Thomas Beatie, the man to first become pregnant and have a baby. He was originally born a female, but underwent six sex-change operations and took male hormones to become a man, and then legally married his partner Nancy. Since she's infertile, he kept his womb and ovaries intact in the hopes of having a family someday - they feel that having a baby is neither a male or female desire, but a human one. Before becoming pregnant, he stopped taking testosterone injections so his menstrual cycle would return. He gave birth to their first child last Summer and now the Beatie's are expecting their second child, due this June! A UK production company has bought the rights to make an hour-long documentary about the "Pregnant Man" Thomas Beatie, Variety reports.
Carson Kressley will host a talk show for Lifetime, writes the Hollywood Reporter.

Pregnant Man Gives Birth to Baby Girl!

Thomas Beatie, who garnered media attention as the "pregnant man," gave birth to a baby girl today! Beatie and his wife, Nancy, have not disclosed the method of delivery. The child is Thomas's first. Nancy has two daughters from a previous relationship. Congratulations to the family!

Since announcing his pregnancy, I've been fascinated by transgender man, Thomas Beatie. Until he appeared on Oprah to tell his unique story, many were convinced the tale was a hoax. But, more than the biology of the situation, I've been captivated by the intense reactions people have had to his decision to have a child.

Whether it will be a best–seller remains to be seen, but Thomas Beatie is penning his memoirs in a book titled Love Makes a Family: A Memoir of Hardship, Healing and an Extraordinary Pregnancy.

Pregnant Man Tells His Story to the World

As many of you know, Thomas Beatie, also known as the transgender pregnant man, appeared with his wife, Nancy, on Oprah yesterday to share their story with the world.

For the people who anticipated a freak show, it was anything but as the loving couple chatted with Oprah about their decision to have a baby and to make it public. Adding even more normalcy, Nancy's two daughters from a previous marriage were there supporting their mama and step–dad.

Formerly known as Tracy, Thomas is now a man with his lady reproductive parts still in tact. Like many married folks, he and Nancy wanted to have a biological child. Thomas said it was a dream of his to eventually have a baby so he kept his reproductive organs when he began his gender transition. When the duo wanted to start their family, Thomas was the only one who could bear offspring as Tracy suffered from endometriosis and had her womb removed years ago.

A highly unusual situation, the couple has faced disbelief, disgust and dismay from many people.

The Beaties believe that the most important thing for a baby is to be surrounded by caring and loving parents despite their gender, sexual preferences, race, etc.

But, the mystery is solved since Thomas Beatie is set to appear on today's Oprah. So if you have to see it to believe it, tune in and watch as they perform an ultrasound and show off the nursery.

Is the Pregnant Man a Hoax?

In the last few days, the news has been buzzing about a transgender (woman–turned–man except for the sexual organs) fellow who claims to be 20 weeks pregnant with a baby girl.

But, Thomas Beatie's neighbors and others aren't convinced he's telling the truth. One neighbor said:

Quite frankly, I think it's a hoax. I saw him a few days ago, and he didn't look like that.

Since Thomas kept his female reproductive parts, he was able to conceive. Having taken testosterone injections for years, the former female looks like an expectant man. Obstetrician Lisa Masterston from Cedar Sinai told Good Morning America that there is one other transgender pregnancy on record and that it's entirely possible if all the parts are still in place. She also said the dad-to-be should stop his hormone injections for the sake of the baby's reproductive organs.

Gender Roles - Love 'Em Or Leave 'Em?

Here's a poll from OnSugar blog Rantings of a Single Girl.

Let's go back to the 1940s for a minute. My grandmother was married, raised a kid, ran a farm, taught school, and kept a clean house. All while my grandfather was away at war. After my grandfather came back from the war and had recovered from his wounds, they went back into their traditional roles. He ran the farm and did all the "manly" things. My grandmother raised my aunt, taught school, and still had dinner on the table by 5:30 PM every night. All while pregnant with my dad.

I'm exhausted just talking about it.

I bring all this up because I've been thinking about gender roles lately. I look at my parents. Granted, my dad still does majority of the "manly'" things around the house and my mom does the household things, neither one is afraid to help out the other. My dad does housework. My mom can swing a hammer when needed.

And that's what I like.

I'll never be able to date a guy who believes in traditional gender roles. As much as I like cooking and being in the kitchen, I don't like being expected to be there. If we have kids, I'm not going to be the one who raises them. I certainly expect their father to help out. At the same time, I don't expect him the only one who takes out the trash or fixes things when they break. I think 50/50 is a good blend.

So could you be with someone who firmly believes in traditional gender roles? Or would you rather share the load?

Desperate Housewives Rundown, "The Coffee Cup"

Some shows bring out big guest stars for November sweeps, but Desperate Housewives is getting back in touch with its sexy side instead. Susan tries to set a new record with Mike while Bree narrowly escapes an Orson interruption when she's with Karl. Meanwhile, Lynette's pregnancy secret is finally out and Nick Bolen continues to be creeptastic all over town.

Now that Mad Men's long gone, I'm hoping the housewives will kick things into higher gear for my Sunday nights. Ready to get into it? Just read more.

Susan: Susan manages to avoid jail time for shooting Katherine, but the cheeky judge sentences her to garbage pick up for all of her "trash talking" (get it?!). Katherine and Susan's little courtroom drama re-enactment is ridiculous (as is Susan's cleavage baring dress for the hearing) but unfortunately the catty antics don't stop there. Katherine taunts Susan and her orange jumpsuit, prompting Susan to turn the tables on her rival. Katherine has a hissy fit and reveals that she and Mike once had sex five times in one day, which of course gets Susan all worked up. When her endless array of lingerie and come-ons still can't land Mike in the sack more than three times in 24 hours, Susan has one of her typical annoying tantrums. Mike comforts her in what's meant to be an "aww" inducing moment, but I was too busy rolling my eyes. Usually Susan doesn't bug me this much, but I couldn't be more over the love triangle.

Angie and Bree: Gaby usually has the best lines of the show, but it looks like Angie is right on her tail - "Have you seen Avenue Q? With the puppets? Now that's theater." Anyway, Angie's now got herself a balancing act between giving Nick grief about his affair with Julie and being too involved with Bree's life. After Orson admits to Angie that he suspects Bree is having an affair, Angie immediately tells Bree. Though she refuses to spy on Bree, Angie still gets all tangled up in the web when she plays Rear Window - looking on as Orson enters the house while Bree and Karl are upstairs getting it on. Angie intervenes and saves the day, but how long before she asks Bree to return the favor. Also, when Orson is discussing the plot of Madame Butterfly, is he insinuating that he might kill himself when he inevitably finds out about Bree's affair? Personally, both Karl and Orson kind of bug me so I'm just as torn as Bree is about which man to choose.

Lynette and Gaby: The latest update in Lynette's secret pregnancy? Menswear. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, when she and Gaby start squaring off over one of Lynette's colleagues. Gaby convinces Carlos to transfer Terrence, the colleague in question, to Florida so that Juanita can take Terrence's daughter's spot at a Catholic school. Realizing that she won't be able to take maternity leave without Terrence, Lynette turns the tables and convinces Terrence to reject the transfer. The tables turn on Lynette when Gaby discovers that she's pregnant - and Carlos is pissed. He gives Lynette an ultimatum - take the spot in Florida, or quit. Though Carlos's anger is understandable, I think I'm on Lynette's side here. Carlos had been complaining about another co-worker's pregnancy, so Lynette had every right to be scared to tell him. I also think it's a bit rich for Gaby to admit how selfish she is but then point fingers at Lynette for keeping her secret.

How'd you feel about the scandals this week? Are you on Team Orson or Team Karl? Do you think it was Nick who kills the coffee shop girl at the end? Sound off!

Which one of your characteristics do you wish your children would inherit from you?

I can do anything. I can change the oil in the car. Honestly, if it put my mind to it, I can do anything and I hope that they have that. I don't want them to just call the repair man. I want them to try to fix something first. I hope they get a hands on, get it done, I can do anything mentality.

Have you let your kids watch your old 90210 days or the renewed show?

No, no, no. Absolutely not.

Have they seen any of your work?

They've seen a couple of things. They've seen some of my work. They watched What I Like About You sometimes, but even that one was a little too risque at times. But, they come along to a lot of the charitable things I do.

Speaking of, how did you get involved with Smiles Across America (SAA)?

As a mother, I sort of saw an opportunity. There's inadequate dental heath care and children are not being taught by their parents to take care of their teeth. SAA goes into schools and teaches kids how to take care of their teeth and they provide them with services.

Who is your role model in motherhood?

I really rely on my girlfriends a lot. We do it together - bounce ideas off of each other. They pick me up when I'm at my lowest point and feel like a terrible mom. We talk about stuff and it helps me to continue on. I just sometimes need a pep talk.

Were you a lover of pregnancy or were you dying to get it over with?

I loved it! I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Will you do it again?

I hope so! I don't know. It depends on my husband being in town.

How do you and Peter bring the sexy back to your marriage with three kids and both of you working?

We do a lot of texting and a lot of flirting by texting and making each other laugh a lot. A good sense of humor keeps each other laughing.

How has the whole Twilight craze affected your family life? Are the girls into it? Do they have crushes on Rob?

They're younger. They don't really care that much. Plus, we really instill in them that they're not goo goo crazy over actors. We try to keep them in a realistic mode. They're a little young... but I'm crazy coo coo for vampires! But, what I do and what I teach my kids to do are two different things.
