When there's a pinata at a kiddie party, I start to panic. Maybe it's because at a childhood party, I stepped too close and was whacked across the head by a blindfolded kid swinging a broomstick. But over the weekend, I found relief at a fete my kids attended.

Spring training may be just around the corner, but the crack of a bat against a ball can keep lil ones entertained year-round. When my baseball fanatic turned four, we didn't let the cold Winter months dampen his team spirit. Rather, we planned an all-star indoor bash for the lil slugger and his friends.

Why spend $50 on birthday invitations when you've got an artistic four-year-old? My daughter's fifth birthday is fast approaching and she wants to invite her entire preschool class to her party. Not all the children's parents are in the class email group or listed in the address directory and we don't want to accidentally leave anyone out.

I'm eight weeks pregnant and slowly learning what other moms and moms-to-be consider fair game in terms of sharing and insight. My best friend has two young children and has been my go-to call throughout my planning for pregnancy and questions about the day-to-day of carrying a baby, but it's exciting to ask other friends and family and hear their suggestions as well.
