Admit it, there's no greater spectator sport than witnessing the hookups, the breakups and the oh-so-cute offspring of sports stars and their bombshell, celebrity mates. Find out who ranks (from 0 to 100) as the biggest players of 2009, and which sport ultimately reigns supreme:

Football

MVP: Talk about a touchdown. This year, the Colts' wide receiver Hank Baskett had more than his 15 minutes of fame when he married former Girls Next Door star Kendra Wilkinson, becoming the costar of her E! reality TV show Kendra. The couple's June 27 nuptials at the Playboy Mansion were only surpassed by the televised birth of their son, Henry Randall Baskett IV (aka Lil' Hank) on Dec. 11. While his professional sports career is less storied than his off-field antics, for dating, marrying and squiring a son with Wilkinson, Basket gets 100 in our ratings scale. Honorable Mention: Tom Brady sure knows how to play the field. The New England Patriots quarterback wed Gisele Bündchen on Feb. 26 in Santa Monica, and the newlyweds welcomed son Benjamin, on Dec. 8. He joked, "No Sundays," when Bündchen asked him when she could give birth. Good thing she delivered on a weekday, enabling Brady to make it to the playoffs and earning him 75 points.Sidelined: Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo blind-sided Jessica Simpson, splitting up with the starlet a day before her 29th birthday, and earning the NFL quarterback a negative 10 on our scale. At first their romance seemed like a touchdown as they vacationed together and survived criticism from rabid Cowboys fans, who considered Simpson bad luck for her beau's team. But their surprise split sacked the score. No word yet on what Simpson did with all those pink No. 9 jerseys.

Basketball

MVP: It's been romance from day one between NBA player Marko Jaric and Victoria's Secret supermodel Adriana Lima. The two were secretly wed on Valentine's Day in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, after the Memphis Grizzlies hot shot proposed to the Brazilian beauty on her birthday in June '08. The two had a baby girl, appropriately named Valentina, on Nov. 15, earning Jaric a score of 100. Honorable Mention: Lamar Odom doesn't waste any time on or off the court. The Los Angeles Laker raced to the altar with reality TV star Khloe Kardashian on Sept. 27, a month after they first met. Now with rumors swirling of Khloe's pregnancy, teased in the season finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Odom is proving he sure knows how to shoot and score. The All-Star, who was once named the Player of the Year by Parade Magazine, might be the fastest-moving player in this game of love, earning him 90 points. Sidelined: Tony Parker and Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria have been going strong since their extravagant French wedding in 2007 – earning him a solid 30 points – but it'll take a baby to make a real splash in this celebrity pool!

Baseball

MVP: Serial player Alex Rodriguez covered all the bases this year, enjoying his best season and helping lead the New York Yankees to a World Series victory. And he also resisted striking out with Nine star Kate Hudson – that is until the season was over. Rodriguez was linked last year to Madonna, while Hudson had dated sports star Lance Armstrong. The two have reportedly split, earning A-Rod 70 points, not bad for a third-baseman. Honorable Mention: Derek Jeter, who has played the dating game with everyone from Mariah Carey to Jessicas Biel and Alba, was rumored to have already proposed to his girlfriend Minka Kelly, star of TV's Friday Night Lights. Will he really pop the question in 2010? As long as he remains coy about the relationship we may never know. For now, he gets a 65 for making it to the one-year mark.
Hockey
MVP: It's a slap shot for NHL player Mike Fisher, who got engaged to country superstar Carrie Underwood just before Christmas. The alternative captain of the Ottawa Senators has been dating the American Idol winner since 2008, after the couple met at one of her concerts in Ottawa. "Thank you #12," she wrote in the liner notes of her new CD, Play On, referring to his jersey number. Fisher gets an 85 for scoring the longest relationship Underwood has had – as well as a yes to his proposal. Honorable Mention: Hilary Duff has become a ringside fixture at boyfriend and Ottawa Senators Mike Comrie's hockey games. And while there have been rumors of an engagement, there has been no ring spotted on Duff's finger just yet. Still, Comrie (currently out sick for the season) gets a 55 for sticking with his sweetheart since '07. So, which group of athletic supporters keeps the best company? Football fans, by far! The players' A-list wives and bundles of joy snag headlines while they take their teams to the top. Even being married to a basketball player doesn't sway Khloe Kardashian, who earlier this year said, "It's easier to date a football player for sure. Football players have one game a week, and they practice every day, but they're all at home." She should know, sister Kim makes it work with Reggie Bush. Guess the rest of the gals need to hit the road to keep their honeys!

You guys are awesome! I can't believe how many posts there have been in just the 1 day this group has been around! Sugars are the BEST!

Just a lil', teeny, tiny request though... If you could, could you please BOLD, or italic, or bullet point the main points in the article and then remember to link to your source. We're all so busy and we belong to so many groups that this system really helps to be able to get the conversation started and going!

I'd hate for someone to post something they think is really important just to have people ignore it because they think it takes too long to read!

In order to make something bolded, put {b} at the beginning of what you want bolded and {/b} at the end but instead of this bracket } use the ones that look like this >. For italics, put i in there instead of b. As for what to bold or italicize, imagine you were to tell a friend, "I just read this article about such and such. It said, A, B, and C." You'd want to put emphasis on whatever you would fill in for A, B, and C. Basically what happened, what's the consequence.

Grammy Award-winning producer and hip-hop artist Swizz Beatz says singer Alicia Keys is not to blame for his marital breakup, he tells Usmagazine.com.

"I can no longer ignore the harmful rumors, that my friend Alicia Keys is in any way linked to my marital circumstances or to the decision that [my wife] Mashonda and I have made to separate," Beatz tells Us.

"I am disappointed that some have chosen to try and tarnish Alicia's reputation by irresponsibly implicating her in a situation that she has absolutely nothing to do with," Beatz, a father of two, says.

"This experience has been one of the most difficult times in my life, and as was stated when we announced our separation several months ago, I ask that you continue to respect my privacy in dealing with this personal matter," Beatz tells Us.

How am I suppose to afford my wedding?!

Granted I am not at the point in my life to be married yet (in terms of personal development and relationship status), but as the number of my former classmates getting hitched begin to increase, one tends to start to freak out over biological clocks and wonder if the guy you're currently dating is... dun dun dun - "the ONE".

Even after you've gotten that all figured out, there is then the cost of the wedding you need to worry about (among many many other things). How the heck am I suppose to be able to afford this elaborate celebration on an income I can barely survive on as a single 20-something year old? I suppose I don't really need the elaborate party... oh who am I kidding, of course I do!

After reading the following blog post my exbf/BFF linked me to (though I don't think he's freaked out as much haha!), I feel a lil bit calmer. Just makes me realize I need to start budgeting everything in my life that's all. hahaha! that is the laughter of nervousness.... lol! oh dear...

UPDATE:
Being Chinese, I am expected to hold an elaborate Chinese-style wedding + banquet. There's no way my family/relatives would let me get away with a small ceremony, much less elope hahaha! I'll deal with this whole financial dilemma when it seems more like a reality. Who knows what sorta cultural differences my future fiance would bring into the equation lol

The $28,000 question: Why are we all hypocrites about weddings? by Ramit Sethi

On Saturday night, I was out with some friends, including one who’s planning her wedding for next August. I’ve had a bunch of family weddings in the last few months, so I suggested she check out a nearby stationery store for her invitations. “It’s really expensive, like $14 per invitation. But at least you can get some ideas for design.”

She looked at me and, without a hint of arrogance, said, “Oh, I’ll check it out. I actually talked to my family and we have an unlimited budget for the wedding.” With one sentence, I was rendered speechless. She didn’t brag. She just said it matter-of-factly: Her wedding could cost anything and it was ok.

She comes from a very wealthy family, so this isn’t such an unusual thing. What is unusual, however, is that so many people will scoff at the above story - and then proceed to spend ungodly amounts on large purchases like a new home or a wedding while steadfastly insisting how absurd “most” people are. Today, I want to write about how to plan for these large life events. But be prepared - you’re going to have to confront the hypocrisy that we all have when it comes to these purchases.

Of course your wedding will be simple
When my first sister called me to tell me that she’d gotten engaged earlier this year, I was out with my friends. I ordered champagne for everyone. When my other sister told me she was getting married a few months later, I told all my friends again. Then I found out they were having an East coast wedding and a West coast wedding - each - for a total of four weddings in a few months. I ordered a round of cyanide and made mine a double.

That’s what got me started thinking about weddings recently. The average American wedding costs almost $28,000, which, the Wall Street Journal notes, is “well over half the median annual income in U.S. households.” Hold on: just wait a second before you start rolling your eyes. It’s easy to say, “These people should just realize a wedding is about having a special day, not about putting yourselves in crippling debt.”

But guess what? When it’s your wedding, you’re going to want everything to be perfect. Yes, you. So will I. It’ll be your special day, so why not spend some extra money to get the extra-long roses or the filet mignon?

My point isn’t to judge people for having expensive weddings. Quite the opposite: The very same people who spend $28,000 on their weddings are the ones who, a few years earlier, said the same thing you’re saying right now: “I just want a simple wedding. It’s ridiculous to go into debt for just one day.” And yet, little by little, they spend more than they had planned - more than they can afford - on their special day. Why is that?

The spending for weddings increases year after year. Yet we insist that we will be different: Of course we won’t spend that much. Of course we’ll have a budget. Of course we’ll have a small simple wedding. Sure we will.

So what should we do?
So knowing the astonishingly high costs of weddings, what can we do?

I see three choices:

Cut costs and have a simpler wedding. Most people, frankly, are not discplined enough to do this. I don’t say this pejoratively, but statistically: Most people will have a wedding that costs tens of thousands of dollars. (If you want to debate the difference between the average or median amount, see here or below for a simulated wedding budget.)

Do nothing and figure it out later. Most people do this. I spoke to a recently married person I know who spent the last 8 months planning her wedding, which became a very expensive day. Now, months later, he and his wife don’t know how to deal with the debt resulting from the wedding. If you do this, you are a moron. But you are in good company since almost everybody else does it, too.

Budget and plan for the wedding. Ask 10 people which of these choices they’ll do, and every single one of them will pick this one. Then ask them how much money they’re saving every month for their wedding (whether they’re engaged or not). I guarantee the sputtering and silence will be worth it. (Leave a comment describing what happens!) This is a great idea in theory, but is almost never followed in practice.

We actually have all the information we need: The average age at marriage is about 27 for men and 26 for women. We know that the average amount of a wedding is about $28,000. So, if you agree with this choice - and you don’t want to go into debt for your wedding - here’s how much you should be saving:

Most of us haven’t even thought about saving this amount for our weddings. Why not? What do we do instead?

We say things like,

* “Wow, that’s a lot. There’s no way I can save that. Maybe my parents will help…”
* “My wedding won’t be like that. It’ll be simple and elegant”
* “I’ll think about it when I get engaged”
* “Luckily, I won’t have to pay for it.” (Who will? Is your future spouse thinking like this?)
* “I have to marry a rich guy” (I’ve heard people say this and and they were only half-joking)

More commonly, though, we don’t think about this at all: one of the most major expenditures of our lifetimes, which will almost certainly arrive in the next few years, and we don’t even sit down for 10 minutes to think about it. Something’s broken here.

Note how changing the amount of guests doesn’t really change the cost very much: Reducing the headcount 50% only reduces the cost 15%. Creating a simple, affordable wedding, it turns out, is surprisingly hard.

It’s not just weddings
Weddings are just one example. We don’t plan out our largest expenses, like houses, cars, and even kids. This is what I call conscious spending but, honestly, it’s much easier to simply ignore these looming purchases and think about them later.

The problem is, if you don’t plan ahead, it becomes much, much more expensive. From the example above, a 25-year old who starts saving for his wedding will have to save 3.5 times the monthly amount a 20-year old will. The alternative is to simply finance it, which makes it even more expensive because of interest. This is especially true of long-term loans for houses.

Some recommendations
1. Be realistic. Even though you’re reading personal-finance blogs like iwillteachyoutoberich and are probably better at your finances than 99% of other people, you’re still human. Your wedding (and mine) will be more expensive than we plan. The head-in-the-sand approach, however, is the worst thing we can do. Sit down and make a realistic budget of how much your big purchases will cost you in the next ten years. Do it on a napkin - it doesn’t have to be perfect! Just spend 20 minutes and see what you come up with.

2. Set up an automatic savings plan. Since the last recommendation to make a budget was completely unrealistic and almost nobody will do it, I suggest just taking a shortcut and setting up an automatic savings plan. Assume you’ll spend $25,000 on your wedding, $20,000 on a car, and (however much) on a down payment for a house. “But Ramit,” you might say in an annoying perfectionist voice, “that’s almost $3,000 per month. I can’t afford that!” Can you afford $300? If so, that’s $300 better than you were doing yesterday. Now that you’ve read this, your preparation - or debt - is a choice.

3. You can’t have the best of everything, so use the P word. Prioritization is such an important concept. Like I said, it’s human nature to want the best for our wedding day or first house, and we need to be realistic about acknowledging that. With that said, we simply can’t have the best of everything. Do you want the better food or an open bar at your wedding? If you have the costs on paper, you’ll know exactly which tradeoffs you can make to keep within your budget. If you haven’t written anything down, there will appear to be no tradeoffs necessary. And that’s how people get into staggering amounts of debt. For the things you de-prioritize, beg, borrow, and steal to save money: Use a public park instead of a ballroom, ask your baker friend to make the cake, and ask relatives to help with cleanup. This is where, if you plan ahead, time can take the place of money.

Ideally, you do #1 (simplify) and #3 (plan). But even if you can’t simplify, at least you can plan.

The result - and what to do today
Today, sit down and plan out the major purchases you’ll have in the next ten years - whether or not you’re engaged or have any plans to buy a house soon. This is really important: Planning before you need to separates rich people from everyone else. Plan out how much you’ll reasonably need. Plan out how much you can save. Then go into your savings account and set up an automatic deposit plan. Starting tomorrow, your savings account should have virtual buckets of money for upcoming items (e.g., 30% for your down payment, 25% for your wedding…).

The result: A wedding where you know all the costs and prioritize for what’s important for you. A wedding where, the day after, you’re debt-free and can start your lives together. And the ability to control your spending, instead of having it control you.

ANTM, C08E06: Jelinas Reviews the Portfolio - "Four Sides"

I actually thought this was a good idea for a shoot. It puts the girls all on the same playing field because they all have the same assignment: each girl's imagination determines the quality of her shoot, really.

Some of the girls came up with some lame personality traits, but, in the end, it's the photos that matter.

That and the nickname. Man, some of the nicks were dumb. But some of the judges' suggestions were even dumber ("Brown?" Really? Yikes).

As usual, each ranking will be accompanied by my own personal commentary on how wretched a person each contestant is. And on we go!

8. Sarah (BOOTED)

Moe? Come ON.

Oh, Sarah. This picture is BOOOOOOOOO-RING!!!! Usually, when the judges say crap like, "This is soooo posed," I say, "Whatever, judges, you're just trying to sound cool." But, this time, I could see what they were talking about and actually agreed.

Innocent? Nowhere near as good as Brittany's. Angry? Nowhere near as good as Jael's "anarchist" (pose was very cliched, IMO). Sad? More like "indigestion." Happy? Totally cheesy; very Mervyn's Spring Catalog 2004.

I mean, I've done pictures like this with my digital camera at home. Actually, I think mine were a little better.

Also, she should have remembered last week's tip and picked a blue shirt to complement her skin and hair. Bad call, Sarah.

Good riddance to you and your foul middle name, Sarah Moe.

7. Whitney

Whitelle? Come ON.

For once in my life, I agree with the bottom two. Don't get too comfy, judges; I doubt it'll ever happen again.

First the good: this white top looks great on her.

Now the bad: I think our girl Whit just overthought this shoot. I mean, "secretive?" "Peaceful?" How are you supposed to convey that without props?

Secretive? Sorry, but that raised arm is showing your Secret to all of us. Peaceful? A little better, but it really only serves as the missing link between "secretive" and "thinker." Thinker? Probably the best of the bunch, but even that's not great. Comedian? What is with that Gene Simmons tongue, girl?

"Secretive," "peaceful" and "thinker" all looked like variations on the same pose. I think she should've picked a few more basic ones. Thinker is good, but what about doing, like, a meditative pose for "peaceful?" How about a finger to the lips for "secretive?"

You'd think someone from Dartmouth would be able to come up with better ideas. But I guess that's what happens when you major in "Basketball" and not "Creativity and Imagination."

All the same, I'm still with audreystar in her prediction that Tyra's setting out to make a statement this cycle. If Whitney doesn't at least make it to the top four, I'll be very surprised. I bet she'll pick it up a significant bit tonight.

6. Renee

Naiyim? Come ON. NeNe? A li'l better, I suppose.

I don't know if it's Renee's foul personality that makes me rank her so low, but I just can't make myself like this picture. I feel like she just doesn't have it in her duplicitous snake of a self to exhibit four different sides of her personality. Far as I've seen so far, Renee only has two faces.

Sexual? Like a T-Bag from "Prison Break" sort, I guess. Dark side? Should I be disturbed that it looks so similar to "sexual?" Motherly? After the "dark side" pic, it looks a little like a serial killer trying to lure innocents into her web of lies to be killed and maybe eaten. Sorrow? Once again, looks rather fake. Looks more like, "I'm stretching before I go to bed."

And what the heck is up with her babuschka head wrap all the time? Is that supposed to look good instead of really, really odd and pretentious and obviously-trying-to-give-birth-to-a-new-trend-ish? I'm going to call that head wrap her "fetch" because, like "fetch," it is NOT going to happen.

And her top is okay, but her hair's terrible.

On top of all that, how foul a liar is she?? Let's run down the list of Renee's lies this episode, shall we?

"I never said that I hated you."
"Nicole Richie asked who the wild one was and I just said, 'Oh, Jael's the wild one.'"
"I am not a mean person."
"I'm sorry."

Yeah, let's see how this "revelation" changes ol' NeNe tonight (my bet: NOT AT ALL).

5. Jaslene
Jaslene. How very predictable.

Jaslene is always fierce -- this time, she was predictably so. All of her pictures could be depicting the exact same character trait. She knows how to take a good picture, but in a very general sort of way.

Sentimental? Only if that sentiment is "ferocity." Drag queen? Quite a fierce one. ChaCha diva? Feroz. Modelesque? What's the word I'm looking for? Oh, yes, there it is: fierce.

All these pictures look good, but they do all look the same. I think versatility was the point of this exercise and, if such is the case, Jaslene failed pretty miserably. Her hair and clothes look good, though.

4. Dionne

Wholahay? OSSOM!!!! Brown? What a let-down. You suck, Tyra.

I love me some Dionne; that's no secret. This pic is okay, I guess, but not brilliant.

Friendly? Cute, sassy, pretty. Very Cover Girl. Evil? Great pic; quite dark (and not in a Brown kind of a way). Hood? Ooh, worst of the set. You'd think Dionne would be able to do "hood" better than Natasha, but I guess I was wrong. Sensitive? More like a migraine headache.

Her top is pretty on her, but her hair mystifies me. It's almost as bad as Renee's if not worse.

That said, I was very happy that Dionne won the challenge this week.

3. Natasha

Nata? Meh. But I guess we didn't expect much from her in the first place, anyway.

These are actually great pix for Natasha. That's three excellent weeks in a row, now, I think.

Of course, her traits are a little weird ("surprised?" Like, "I'm a very surprised person?" Are you Russian or retahded?), but this is Natasha we're talking about, here, so I'm not surprised.

Happy? Beautiful! Surprised? This is actually a great pic. Sad? I get the face, but what's with the arms? They look exactly like "sexy." Sexy? Pretty good, but why do the arms look so "sad?"

I think she maybe should have chosen a brighter top -- pink, maybe -- to complement her skin and hair, but her hair looks great!

All in all, a solid performance.

2. Brittany

Brit? Come ON.

This is a great batch of pix for Brit. Each one is different and, given a list of the traits, I could match them to their respective pictures easily.

Innocent? So twee! Spacey? I can practically see the string of drool hanging off her bottom lip. Secret evil? I think this is the pic that really defined this set for me because "secret evil" really is secret in Brittany, as opposed to her innocence and spaciness, which we see all the time. Goofy? Super-cute.

My only question is: Where in this set is the picture for "uncontrollably crybaby?" We all know that side of Brittany, right?

Seriously, though, STOP CRYING.

On the plus side again, though, her wardrobe and hair are perfect. Great color choices, esp. given the traits she picked. The yellow and green lend a whimsical air to this pic.

1. Jael

Jael? I actually happen to think it's a cool name, too. But I liked it because of the biblical character, and this Jael actually kinda ruins it for me.

This set is head and shoulders above the rest. I think it's in large part due to Jael's excellent decision to pick traits that actually describe her. She really focused on things that make her unique and it paid off.

Sexy beast? Nice variation on "sexy," and suits her much better. Anarchist? That pose is genius. Revolutionary? Good pose again. Dominator? Does look dominatrixy, but, then again, this is Jael we're talking about, here.

Her wardrobe choice was great, too. If anyone should have been wearing black this week, it was Jael.

That said, she was making quite a fool of herself to 50 Cent, thus proving that she WAS scared of him by her desperate need to prove that she was NOT scared of him. If it'd be Suge Knight, she'd have been hanging out a window by her toes instead of just tossed into the pool.

And, as I've emphasized time and time again, girl is ROUGH in person!!! How is she still in this competition with skin like that??? Yikes!!

Had an Ultrasound today and...ouch!!!

Okay...sooo, i've been having health insurance plans, but the Dr's office was oh so kind *insert eye roll here* to allow me to have the ultrasound i had missed last week...it basically was to find out the size of her and stuff... I was blessed to have my nieces and sister there with me...Let me tell you my nieces were sooooooo freaking excited...they were all like theres baby camryn and there she is..and what is that... it was awesome...but it was very uncomfortable laying on my back there...within like 3 mins i was dying of back pain...sooo anyways to all the baby news...so they measured her and all that jazz and they say she weighs at this moment...8 FREAKING POUNDS!!!! Thats right im going to have a chubby baby...they said they can be off by a pound..which means she can be a pound less or a pound more...OUCHIEEEE!! how am i going to push her out??? but who cares how big she'll be...it was just a great time watching her on the lil monitor...to see what's been kicking and jabbing me the last 9 months..lol...She was a cutie on the monitor..she was sucking on her thumb/ hand while she was being photographed...it was such an awwwww moment for me...like, i've had other ultrasounds before, but now that shes basically full term, its just an amazing thing to see and to experience...i think finally the reality is kicking in that i'm going to be a mommy...its scary but wonderful...i guess this was the feeling the bf got last week when he finally got nervous realizing he's going to be a daddy...sooo thats about it..just wanted to tell you the ultrasound info!!!
