The first time can be a charm . . . for children. Our girl Très is polling her readers about where they lost their virginity and it got me thinking: did the person you lost your virginity to end up being the father of your children? Lots of people used to save sex until marriage so it was a given that a person's "first" would be their coparent, but now that's often not the case. Still, there's always high school sweethearts or couples who reconnect later in life or, as 16 and Pregnant has proved, the chance of getting pregnant the first time. Fill us in!

While dinners often serve as a family meeting of sorts, some busy broods pencil in a separate meeting time in hopes of improving family communication, conflict resolution, and discussing other issues that may come up. The digital age of emailing, cell phones, and social networking has made it possible for many families to interact without coming face-to-face with one another. Though it may seem old-fashioned, some crews choose to assemble the troops on a regular basis.

Ever Left a Dirty Diaper For Someone Else to Change?

Parenting is a dirty job, but someone has to do it. When it comes to diapering, many parents use the rule, "He who smelt it, changes it," which usually has both sides equally elbow deep in soiled nappies. However, some sneaky (and tired) mamas and papas looking to score a break from diaper duty have admitted to leaving a stinky one for their counterpart to find and change. There's no shame in needing a break every once in a while.

Do tell, have you ever purposefully overlooked your tot's poopy diaper in hopes that someone else will change it?

Would You Offer Up Your Baby to Research?

Weird science? The world's heaviest baby has been invited by the Japanese Medical Association to have his development studied as he grows. The study would be sponsored by a Japanese television network and new concerns are brewing that the Indonesian newborn will be exploited, even if it's for science. Luckily it's not a decision that most parents have to face, but would you allow your baby to be poked and prodded by doctors?

Lil Community: Do You Spank Your Kid?

Proponents of spanking feel that it's an effective punishment; that occasionally spanking a child in an otherwise loving home is a good way to show that there are consequences for misdeeds. Opponents tend to feel that spanking teaches that violence is an effective way to end conflict. Some think spanking is straight-up child abuse. Keep in mind... when I say spanking, I mean a couple firm swats on the backside. Child abuse is NEVER acceptable or excusable. If you have reason to believe that a child you know is being abused, or if you fear your frustration with parenting may turn you into an abuser, PLEASE, contact the proper authorities. Which brings me to my question: how do you ladies feel about this issue? Do you spank your kid?

Are You Teaching Your Son Not to Cry?

It's one thing to try and distract your child when he falls on the playground to get him up and running again and another to expect him to contain his emotions. Yesterday, I was making a quick run into the grocery store to pick up juice bars for my whimpering son who had a sore throat and fever. As I took him out of the car, quiet tears were falling down his face and a nice man who had parked next to us smiled before kindly telling my three-year-old that "boys don't cry." I disagree, but the situation made me wonder what other parents are teaching their sons. What's your opinion?
