Babysugar Diaries: Pregnant Lady on the Move

A baby in the tummy often leads a woman to "nest" in her home. When I was pregnant the first time around, I painted rooms, cleaned out closets and gave away bags of clothes. This time around, I haven't so much as bought newborn diapers or purchased a layette! That's all about to change.

Not anticipating a move, my husband and I stumbled upon a piece of property that screamed "Home Sweet Home." Upon entering the house, I chased my wee one from room to room. Instantly comfortable, she seemed to be telling me, "Here's my room and here's your room." All in love with the house, we have moved forward with contracts and inspections. Now my task of preparing for baby seems quite simple as I start to mentally gear up for a birth and a move. One major perk - I won't have to lift any heavy boxes!

Jessica Alba Has Made Nesting Her Instinct

Most first time mothers are nervous about bringing home babe - mainly since they cannot prepare for the unknown. But, It seems that actress Jessica Alba has made it her mission to be ready.

The celeb has taken a break from working to concentrate on getting her house situated for her impending baby-to-be. The starlet who will soon welcome a lil girl is also making an extra effort to be mindful of her health. A recent article in People reported:

I have to make sure that I'm eating more of the right nutrients and vitamins, but I'm not used to eating this much," she says. "I've had to take time out of the day to eat before I get cranky and rundown and tired. Before I was just like the energizer bunny."

My father-in-law had these sitting around in the backyard and graciously gifted them to us after I informed him that antlers are hip now. My husband created this copper-wire nest for a modern, edgier trophy look.

Does Your Tot's School Have a Scream Room?

Scary! Everyone's heard of a time-out corner, quiet time, or even a trip to the principal's office if tots get out of line at school, but how about a "scream room"? With images eerily reminiscent of some creepy kiddie version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, schools are implementing so-called "scream rooms," where kids in need of letting off some steam are sent to scream their lil heads off.

These rooms are technically called time-out rooms, which sound innocuous enough, but some parents claim that these areas are far more traumatizing. Described by one parent as, "scream closets, where kids bang their heads off of concrete walls." Yikes. Sounds more like a subpar mental health facility or solitary confinement chamber than a safe place for young kids to attempt to settle themselves down. Understandably, parents aren't happy about this, and are protesting the use of these rooms as appropriate ways to handle kids' behavioral issues.

A Nesting Table Vignette

After painting them navy blue, I paired them with two neutral slipper chairs and placed the group along a window wall in my living room. I added in a few accessories, including my grandmother's vintage milk glass lamp, and voilà! I've got an adorable vignette.
