Move over, teddy bear nanny cam! With the advent of low-cost camera and monitoring options, moms and dads can now have a DIY system that delivers sophisticated results.

The Logitech Alert 750i Master System ($299) is billed as a way to keep an eye on your kids in the backyard, in the crib, or anywhere around the house. The company sent me a review unit to test out. It was as easy to set it up and check in on my home as promised. I had the camera set up in my living room in under 10 minutes although I didn't mount it with the included accessories, which would've taken longer.
Overall I think this is an easy-to-use system if you're looking to secure your home.

Nanny cams provide worrisome parents with a bit of relief - especially after hearing some of the horror stories of bad nannies caught on camera. Once it's set up and ready to go, video monitoring parents need to decide if they are going to let the sitter know he or she's being recorded. As long as the mama follows video and audio surveillance laws, she doesn't legally have to inform her child's caregiver of the camera in her own home.

It's hard to know who to trust with your child so some parents turn to in home surveillance devices to keep a watchful eye on their caregiver. A friend of a staffer here at Sugar HQ decided to invest in one to ease her concerns about her nanny, despite the woman's great references and clean record. Thankfully, she did.

In this shocking video from the hidden cam, the mother learned her twin babes had been manhandled, left in extremely unsafe positions and put at high risk for injuries. After viewing the footage while at work, she promptly went home and fired the nanny. The police are now involved and fortunately, the lil boys were not harmed.
