Should Children Have Cell Phones?

Offered in just about every color, shape and size, cell phones have become an adult toy. But do children also need the convenience and accessibility that the phones provide?

Since family plans are offered at a minimal expense, more and more parents are buying their kids flip phones, Bluetooths and Blackberrys? Last night's episode of Lipstick Jungle touched on the tot techie trend.

Actress Brooke Shields may have starred in Pretty Baby, but now the 42-year-old mother of two is raising two of her own - daughters, Rowan, 4 and Grier, 1 with husband, screenwriter Chris Henchy.

The statuesque beauty grew up in the public eye and has had her share of headlines for the suggestive roles her momager allowed her to play, her short marriage to tennis great, Andre Agassi and penning a book about her experience with postpartum depression.

In a recent Parade Magazine article, the strong browed beauty talked openly about fertility and life as a working mom.

Brooke said:

There was a period when I was working, but I couldn’t get pregnant, and I felt like a complete failure,” she says. “Then, all of a sudden, I got pregnant, and I was scared that I was never going to work again. Sometimes I get mad at myself for wanting as much as I do. I don’t want to compromise, but I think, ‘God, it could be so much simpler.’ And yet, that’s not the way I’m made.”

On juggling the demands of motherhood and having a career, the article said:

Shields plays Wendy Healy, a successful though harried movie producer trying to balance career, marriage and motherhood. Shields admits to dealing with some of the same issues all moms with young children face. “I miss having time to talk to Chris. I miss the small talk.” She also can find the transition from work to home difficult: “When I walk in the door, there’s not a second to myself. Sometimes I stop in a diner before going home just to learn my lines.”

Brooke Shields: Pretty Baby Has Staying Power as Smart Mama

Brooke Shields has proved she's more than just a pretty baby, but a talented woman. Thrust into the public eye modeling for Ivory Soap at the age of 11 months, the stunner had a successful modeling and film career before she took to the small screen starring in a number of television shows like Suddenly Susan, That '70s Show and the recently canceled, Lipstick Jungle.

Though she sparked controversy with her role as a child prostitute in 1978's Pretty Baby and again a few years later in a Calvin Klein jeans ad, Shields may best be known these days as an outspoken advocate for women suffering from postpartum depression. Following the birth of her daughter Rowan, 6, the actress wrote Down Came the Rain an account of her struggle with the disease, her battle with fertility and her suicidal thoughts. She publicly and passionately disagreed with Tom Cruise about the use of psychiatric drugs for PPD treatment though they eventually called a truce.

The mom of two – Shields also is mom to Grier, 3, – still does a number of advertisements and promotes her books, including the just-released It's the Best Day Ever, Dad! about the bond between fathers and daughters.

The Shields Henchy Clan Is Bi-Coastal

Two careers, two kids and one heck of a long commute! To film Lipstick Jungle, Brooke Shields relocated to the Big Apple with her daughters, Rowan, 4, and Grier, 2, but her hubby, Chris Henchy stayed back in Los Angeles.

As an executive producer on Entourage, his work is on the West Coast so Brooke has come up with some creative ways to manage television making and mothering like having her nanny bring her girls down to meet her.

She recently told USA Today:

"I worked until late last night and this morning. I was like, 'Girls, this is what we're going to do, and you'll come with me to where I need to be so we can spend an extra hour together.' I made a plan for them."

The arrangement seems to be working for the actress who said she would stay in New York for as long as the show runs.

It's a Lipstick Jungle for Brooke Shields and Her Girls

Gearing up to promote her newest season of Lipstick Jungle, mama Brooke Shields still finds time to skip and cuddle with her two favorite girls - daughters Rowan and Grier. Life imitating art or vice versa.

When Pop saw the fab mom at the TCAs, she asked her what her perfect day off would be like. Her answer:

You'd just be with them. I like the morning to start late which never happens with babies. So, they come into my bed and that’s a good start. We just dance and play and then, you know, walk in parks, eating, shopping - just listening to them. Literally, it’s just about babies.

Seems like the triple threat Henchy girls shared a "perfect" day together as they took on Manhattan in their summery blue and white stripes and golden clogs. Brooke appears to be taking notes from a much younger fashionista. Suri, are you already a stylist for some of Hollywood's hottest?

While dating, my husband and I agreed on the number of children we hoped to have.

But, what happens when a couple can't come to a consensus? Or, if spouses initially have the same plan and then one person has a change of heart?

Actress Brooke Shields made a recent comment that confronted this issue.

"I'm going to have to convince him and he's a hard sell at this point," the Lipstick Jungle star, 42, said while laughing. "Maybe he likes the even number!"
