Jell-O Jiggler Jack-O'-Lanterns and Bats

Tired of the same ol', same ol'? Almost every Halloween soiree is guaranteed to offer up candy and caramel covered apples. Take the opportunity to serve up something refreshing, fun and super easy to make. Whip up some Jell-O jigglers in festive colors and shapes. Tots will get fired up to offer a helping hand and mama will delight in the easy clean up and simple recipe.

View 5 Photos ›

To see how to make these wobbly creatures, just read more.

Pick out colors to suit your fancy. I chose orange and purple for their Halloween spirit and their tasty purposes.

Use the Jell-O jiggler recipe given on the side of the box - it is not the same as regular Jell-O!

When the Jell-O has settled, pull the trays out of the refrigerator and place it on a larger bin or warm water to loosen the bottom of the Jell-O.

For ease, I cut the Jell-O into squares with a wet knife and then removed the pieces and placed them on a level cutting board.

Dip the your cookie cutters into water before using it on the Jell-O -it makes for smoother edges.

Peel the excess away from the cookie cutter and use your spatula to remove the jiggler from the cutting board. Place it on the serving tray.

When all of the jigglers have been cut out, mama can enlist her troops to decorate the lil fellas. Use miniature marshmallows and pink decorating gel for eyes and black decorating gel for the jack-o'-lantern's mugs. If you want to add some flair to the tray, use a small circular object and cut out small bits of Jell-O to the edges.

Swap Dyed Eggs With JELL-O Egg Jigglers This Easter

If you can't stomach the thought of eating baskets and bowls of tinted hard boiled eggs this Easter, consider an equally edible and kid-friendly alternative. Rather than dipping traditional eggs, make JELLO Egg Jigglers. Enlist your tots and gather the ingredients: JELL-O mix, water and the egg molds. Then whip up a few batches so you have an assortment of colors and flavors. After chilling, the goodies will be ready for placement in baskets or to send as a party snack to your child's school.

Delilicious: Zoo Pops

Savor the last few weeks of warm weather with these funtastic Zoo Pop ($15) popsicle molds. Pour the liquids of your choice into a monkey, lion, bear or an elephant and let the licking begin. These beastly animals make nice with Jell–o, too!
Delilicious: J-E-L-L-O

There's just something about Jello - I don't know if it's the bright colors, the jiggly consistency or the actual flavor, but kids love it. The sugary gelatin dessert can take on just about any shape or form from salads to molds to shots. And, we can't forget the layered squares or jigglers. But, what's a mom to do when she's got a box of the good stuff and nothing to pour it in?

YumSugar tipped me off to this alternate organic presentation. Simply slice an orange, hallow it out and pour the jello in. Once it sets, carefully slice the halves into wedges. Your kids will get a kick out of it.

Cute Pre-Halloween Dessert: Edible Snails

I'm not into making children's food particularly kid friendly. I don't like sandwiches that are cut into cute shapes with cookie cutters, or eggs that are decorated with veggies to resemble a smiley face. However when I saw these adorable edible snails - made from marshmallow and jello - I thought they would make a fabulous pre-Halloween dessert! Kids will especially enjoy these because finally, playing with food is acceptable. They are a fun dessert to bring to a potluck, party, or dinner, so get the recipe now, just read more

Edible Snails
From Kraft Foods

1 pkg. (4-serving size) gelatin, any flavor
1/2 cup warm water
1-3/4 cups miniature marshmallows, divided
24 pieces red string licorice (1 in.)
1/4 cup ready-to-spread vanilla frosting
chocolate pudding, for serving

Mix gelatin and water in medium microwavable bowl. Microwave on high 1-1/2 min.; stir until gelatin is completely dissolved.

Set aside 12 of the marshmallows.

Add remaining marshmallows to gelatin; stir until well blended. Microwave on high 1 min. or until marshmallows are partially melted. Stir with wire whisk until marshmallows are completely melted. Pour into 9-in. square pan sprayed with cooking spray.

Refrigerate 45 min. or until set.

Run sharp knife around edges of pan to loosen gelatin layer from pan. Starting at one short end, roll up gelatin layer tightly. Cut into 12 (3/4-inch-thick) strips. Refrigerate, covered, until ready to decorate.

Unroll each about 1 inch. Stand 1 of the reserved marshmallows on unrolled portion of each spiral for the "snail's body," securing with frosting. Insert 2 pieces of licorice into each marshmallow for "antennae," securing with additional frosting, if desired.

Serve on top of a bowl of chocolate pudding and enjoy!

Makes 12 snails.

Print recipe with images | without images

This Halloween it might be hard to fit my niece in a pumpkin, but last year it wasn't a problem! Perhaps, I just have to find a bigger pumpkin and hope she might sit still long enough!

Bite of Love: Marshmallow My Love Pudding Cuppycake

If you don't have time to make almond butter and brownie cupcakes or fancy brownie cupcakes sprinkled with frosting, serve up a routine treat in an unusual presentation for your family's Valentine's Day fete.

I dished up chocolate pudding into mini cups and decorated the top with mini marshmallows for a festive, but portioned controlled dessert. Your child's mouth will water at the thought of a cup of sweet goodness, but the reality is you're only serving them four spoonfuls of pudding.

View 5 Photos ›

For tips on how to make these little bites of love, read more.
I used one six pack of pudding from the health food store, which I dished into about 14 mini cups (you know the kind you used in college for Jello shots). I decorated with marshmallows, but you could use any candies or serve plain.
