Has Your Child Slipped Into Her First Pair of Heels?

My daughter doesn't have a swank pair of custom-made high-heeled slippers like Suri Cruise, but she was gifted a bag of plastic princess ones a few years ago. Though my girl only wore them around the house to play dress up, her feet are not strangers to an arch. While shopping for dress shoes at Nordstrom, there were several wedge and tiny kitten-heel styles available in her size! Even my son has managed to tear down our hall in a pair of pumps he found in my closet. Sure, some parents encourage their tots to wear fabulous footwear starting with sassy crib heels, but most kiddos are just drawn to trying on (and wobbling around) in their mama's shoes. Have your tots strutted in shoes that gave them an extra inch or two?

Mommy's Lil Helper: Sole Mates

Katie Holmes, Kate Beckinsale, and Victoria Beckham are a few moms who don't let children get in the way of fashion. Sporting heels at the beach, playground, or pool are no big deal to these glam mommies. More in tune with Jennifer Garner's sneaker style or Reese Witherspoon's flats fetish, I don't bother much with heels.
This Summer, however, has thrown me into a tizzy with weddings galore on beaches, lawns, and other outdoor settings. Thankfully, I've got Sole Mates to lend me a helping, well, heel. The plastic heel covers are intended to keep your slim sticks from sinking into grass, grates, or other tough-to-manage surfaces. The $20 accessories spared my Jimmy Choos an untimely death and me the embarrassment of popping up and down in the turf. They also allowed me to chase my wee one around the lawn without hesitation. I dare say some of my mom friends had mom envy.

Celebaby Style: Suri Cruise Steps Out in Silver and Suede

Suri Cruise is one hot tot that sets the bar when it comes to celebaby style. Her high heel wearing ways have made her the hot topic in many mommy groups of late but it was this outfit that caught my attention. A sign of a true fashionista, Suri's ensemble looks perfectly effortless. Methinks "Stylist" might make it onto the lil sass's resume faster than any other profession.

All bundled up and protected from the NYC weather, the lil lady wore silver liquid leggings and a posh set of kid-friendly Petite Maloles "Celia" purple suede flats before stepping out in the rain. While the $160 shoes may be a bit steep for most moms who know they will end up in a sandpit, they are less apt to cause a twisted ankle than a pair of pumps. Keeping the flash below, she tops it off with a simple hot pink dress and a conservative Juicy Couture sweater that screams sweet girl. And for those who worry about her ability to hold onto youth, just take a gander at her Disney princess umbrella; it doesn't look like Jasmine and Aurora are going anywhere anytime soon.

Trendy tot Suri Cruise and her mama have always had a passion for fashion, but now they are both rocking high heels! Katie Holmes's 3-year-old sidekick recently strutted her stylish stuff down a Boston street in shimmery shoes. The wee one has worn designer garb since leaving the womb and is often primped and polished, so it's no surprise that her latest footwear selection gives her about an inch on her peers.

When a rumor circulated a while back about the girly girl getting a custom made pair of $2,500 Christian Louboutin shoes, 81 percent of LilSugar readers said the pricey accessory only belonged in a mama's closet. Women who like to wear the same outfit day after day may liken themselves to Marge Simpson while apron wearing, apple pie baking subservient mamas might align themselves with Kitty Foreman from That '70s Show though she is known to voice her opinion on occasion. One of the more realistic portrayals of family life comes with Everybody Loves Raymond as Debra and Ray Barone are often caught canoodling and arguing in the same episode. Toddlers and Tiaras: Tootie/Madison Split Personalities

What mother would encourage her kid to have split personalities? Stacy Berg. The pageant mom err, self-proclaimed assistant and slave to her 10-year-old explained (with a straight face) that the girl is Madison at church and school and Tootie when it's time to impress the judges. The seemingly down-to-earth Madison plays soccer and enjoys the outdoors. Then, she takes on a sassy and demanding attitude as Tootie prepping for the glitz and glam of taking to the stage. When the child compared her two personalities, she said Tootie would never play soccer, but Madison would win a race since Tootie would "wear high heels." While I was aghast over last week's episode, this one left me speechless.

I've talked to many new moms who have visions of Barbie-free youth for their babes. Women who purchase art supplies, musical instruments and wooden blocks so their kiddos, particularly their daughters, would be interested in building a future free of fairies and princesses. But, no matter how much parents steer clear of the "buying into the brand" at places like the Disney Store or Toys R Us, is princess culture inevitable? On the playground and around preschool snack tables, lil ones talk Tinkerbell, Fairytopia and lands painted pink and purple. While they may outgrow the tulle and magic wand phase, mothers like myself find our youngster's toy boxes full of jewels, plastic high heels and tiny flying dolls that were gifted.
