There's contemporary nursery design and then there is mid-century classic design on which most modern furniture is based. KnollStudio, long considered one of the pioneers of workplace design, is preparing for a new generation of furniture-lovers with the launch of Knoll Kids.
The kiddie line includes tot-scaled versions of the manufacturer's most popular pieces, including the famed Womb chair and stools designed by Maya Lin. Though the prices will leave most design fanatics doing little more than dreaming, the pieces are certainly inspirational.

Preparing for baby number two has got me nesting and reconfiguring nurseries and bedrooms. Not wanting to spend a huge amount on another glider, I started searching for a comfortable yet modern rocker for my toddler's bedroom. If I had the extra money, I might splurge on the sassy brown swank chair, as the padded arms look quite comfy.

Almost a year after announcing their intention to enter the kiddie market, Restoration Hardware introduced its Baby & Child line this week. The line, which includes furniture, bedding, floor coverings, baby clothes, gifts and home accessories is accessible through its own website and catalog. The company plans to introduce it in select stores later this year.

Designers call the mini vintage Harry Bertoia chair a "classic revitalization," but I'm not certain your average mom would agree. The chair, $850, is made up of more than 2,500 strands of closed-cell extruded sponge cord hand knotted to the chair form. While the look is incredibly fun, I can't imagine cleaning it is a picnic in the park.
