Trendtotting: Alice + Olivia Expands Line For Lil Girls

Just because they are too young to go to the hip parties their mommas used to frequent doesn't mean they can't dress like it. Fashion darling Alice + Olivia is expanding its line of children's wear to include a handful of beautiful organic cotton and voile party dresses.

Awaiting the birth of her daughter, Eloise, in November, designer Stacey Bendet found herself sketching little girl dresses at a maddening pace. She decided to make those sketches into reality by expanding her children's offering from six items last year to about two dozen for Spring. Inspired by Suri Cruise and Kingston Rossdale, the rich dresses include floral prints, ruffled skirts, and sequin tanks. While the prices may keep you from dressing your tot in the beautiful duds for the playground, if you have a wedding or a special party on your calendar, they may be worth a splurge.

Simple or Swank: Sweater Dresses

A little girl dressed in a sweater tunic with tights and boots gets me every time. Add a precious topper and a darling coat and she'll be ready to brave chilly weather.

Simple: If the $20 marshmallow hued cotton sweater dress from Old Navy came in my prenatal size, I'd have one in every color!
Swank: Nearly indistinguishable from the Old Navy version, the Juicy Couture sweater dress is still precious but the wool and cashmere blend jack the price up to $158.

Which one do you like better?

Little Black Dresses (the Slightly Larger, Maternity Options)

Any woman will tell you the LBD is a critical wardrobe piece for work and play. You don't have to let go of your favorite always fashionable crutch just because your belly is growing and you're not-so-lil any more - plenty of designers have pretty and chic maternity LBDs.

One of my favorites right now is the abs one shoulder dress (on sale for $150) because it has the same feel of the flowing Maxi dresses Gwen Stefani and Angelina Jolie wore while pregnant with their now infants.

Celebaby Style: Suri Cruise Steps Out in Silver and Suede

Suri Cruise is one hot tot that sets the bar when it comes to celebaby style. Her high heel wearing ways have made her the hot topic in many mommy groups of late but it was this outfit that caught my attention. A sign of a true fashionista, Suri's ensemble looks perfectly effortless. Methinks "Stylist" might make it onto the lil sass's resume faster than any other profession.

All bundled up and protected from the NYC weather, the lil lady wore silver liquid leggings and a posh set of kid-friendly Petite Maloles "Celia" purple suede flats before stepping out in the rain. While the $160 shoes may be a bit steep for most moms who know they will end up in a sandpit, they are less apt to cause a twisted ankle than a pair of pumps. Keeping the flash below, she tops it off with a simple hot pink dress and a conservative Juicy Couture sweater that screams sweet girl. And for those who worry about her ability to hold onto youth, just take a gander at her Disney princess umbrella; it doesn't look like Jasmine and Aurora are going anywhere anytime soon.

What Would You Do? School Photographer "Enhances" Photos

Pigtails are put up and collars are popped - it's picture day at school! Dressed up in their stain-free tees, moms and dads encourage their little angels to stay clean and smile big for the camera. Regardless of the results, most parents will tell their wee ones how gorgeous they look and frame it for their desk. So how would you feel if someone took your child's image and airbrushed any "imperfections" out of it? That's what happened to one Swedish father. His 3-year-old daughter's preschool image appeared less than perfect to the man behind the lens. Instead of providing the dad with the image captured, he airbrushed the child's scar off her nose. Upset about the unapproved changes, the father said:

It's just not right, it's a sign that people refuse to accept the world as it is and all these problems associated with idealized beauty just seem wrong. They assume that parents don't want scars, but I do. The scar is a part of who she is.

While he may not like it, some parents don't mind when the photographer takes off a scratch on the cheek, a bruised lip or a runny nose. So tell mommy, would you want your child's school photo enhanced or left as-is?
