With schools' rolling spring breaks in full swing many families' thoughts turn to the magical world of Disney. Whether it be frolicking with the princesses, riding It's a Small World or taking pictures with Mickey and his pals, the Disney theme parks have caught the attention of youngsters and their parents for generations.
But with single day ticket prices costing as much as $68 per child – and that doesn't even include transportation to the parks and accommodations once you arrive – a trip to the land of the Mouse is hardly an inexpensive one.

Last night's episode of 16 and Pregnant was a tearjerker as teen mom Lori passed her newborn, Aidan, off to a loving couple during an open-adoption ceremony. While the 17-year-old was in a rocky relationship (at best) with her son's father, Cory, and not in a position to take care of herself let alone the baby, it was her parents who strongly urged the adoption. Explaining that they would be happy to be grandparents but not the primary caretakers of the infant, Lori's parents told her she needed to make a plan to raise the child outside of their home if she kept him.

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season about to become history, I'm already looking forward to 2009. Several moms I know said that the hectic holiday season has pushed them over the edge. Despite the economy, they are planning child-free getaways in the next month even if it's just one night at a local hotel.

Life is a juggling act for most moms. With work, school, vacation, and travel schedules, one of the balls is bound to drop every so often. Usually, when it does the consequence is minor – a missed appointment here, a skipped sports practice there.

Mommy Dearest –
I am planning a gym party for my son's upcoming fifth birthday and am having an internal dilemma about whether or not to invite one particular child. The child in question has special needs that often involve her not listening well to instructions. At our party last year, the child did not listen to the teacher's directions and ended up interfering with the other children's art projects.
