A stroller is not just a way to push your baby around anymore, it's a lifestyle accessory. Parents are willing to shell out upwards of $1000 for a buggy these days, which is why lilsugar readers picked Bugaboo as their favorite stroller of 2008. It's definitely pricey, but the sleek onslaught of features makes it worth the cash for some moms and dads. We like the Bugaboo over here at lil too, but our favorite stroller (especially if you've got more than one tot running around) is phil & teds. Their style and functionality can't be beat.

Strollin': Bugaboo Bee

If labels make you happy, but prices let you down, the Bugaboo Bee may be an option you can't resist. Celebs like Matthew McConaughey, Gwen Stefani and Dave Grohl probably didn't bat an eye at the $530 price tag, but it's a luxury many of us can't afford. The attractive pushchair does have a fair number of sleek features that many parents find worth the investment.

Crafted by the same makers as the Bugaboo Cameleon, the Bee boasts many of its characteristics and makes a name for itself with some significant differences. To see what the "buzz" is all about, read more.

Falling into the lightweight category, the Bee weighs significantly less than the Bugaboo Cameleon or Frog at 17 pounds. Much to my surprise, the Bee easily collapses in one fell swoop without having to remove a bassinet or toddler seat, making storage and lifting a cinch. The stroller, however, only comes with one seat, which is reversible, reclining and extend-able. For parents wanting to use the buggy immediately, there are adapters available for various infant car seats. After that, toddlers up to 37.5 pounds can enjoy the posh set of wheels.

Parents find themselves flying down busy streets with ease, which makes errand running efficient. The basket underneath the seat allows for ample storage space and easy access. In keeping with the stylish Dutch brand, the Bee is available in five fabulous fruity colors.

Strollin': Bugaboo Cameleon

First up on my Right Start stroller review - the multi-terrain Bugaboo Cameleon! Born in 1999 in Holland, the best-selling Dutch stroller has quickly become a favorite for families all over the world. The beautifully crafted travel system can work for a baby from day one through their toddler years.

Configured with an adapter, the base of the Bugaboo Cameleon ($899) fits many infant car seats (Graco Snugride, Maxi-Cost Mico, and Peg Primo Viaggio) which makes it easy for moms to transfer the child from the car to the stroller with one simple snap. While most car seats are safe and cozy havens for wee ones, many doctors advise parents not to let the child spend too much time in the seat as they need to develop their muscles and stretch out their body. For parents who plan on spending lots of time on the go with their newborn, the bassinet feature of the Bugaboo Cameleon is an added bonus.

Many parents find the bassinet reason enough to buy the expensive stroller. Suited for a newborn, infants can sleep easy while mommy runs errands or lunches with the ladies. Back home, some parents choose to lock the break and keep the stroller stationary making the bassinet the baby's actual sleeping place for the first few weeks of life. This eliminates the purchase of a Moses basket or co-sleeper.

Once the child graduates from the bassinet stage, they move into the bucket seat that pops onto the original base and can grow with a youngster until 40 pounds or four-years-old. When parents opt to have another lil one, they can add a wheeled stepping board for the older child to coast on while his lil sidekick rests.

Some of the benefits of the Cameleon are that you can move the adjustable handle bar (great for height differentiated families) back and forth so you can watch your tot snooze or choose to let him soak in the sights. The foam filled tires make for a smooth ride and less stops at the air filling station. Additionally, parents can pimp their wee one's rides by customizing their colors and fabrics, which are also machine washable - a huge perk for moms of messy youngsters!

As a multi-terrain stroller, the Bugaboo Cameleon can take a family anywhere. The downside is that most families end up buying another lightweight stroller in addition to the Cameleon as it is not the easiest stroller for travel. It is on the heavier end of the scale weighing 21 pounds and breaking it down is not a simple task, as you have to remove the seat or bassinet before folding it up for storage. However, like most strollers, many moms I know agree that you just get used to it and it becomes second nature.

Moms Options For Avoiding a Double Stroller

Adding a sibling to the family mix brings lots of excitement and a bit of fear to families already crammed for space. A new addition brings more toys and the need for additional sleeping space and a way to transport multiple children. While some families opt for double strollers, budget and space limitations have others looking for alternatives. For mamas with older kids who don't necessarily spend much time in the stroller, here are a few suggestions for avoiding a double buggy.

Wheeled boards, like the Buggy Board, Hitchhiker Stroller Board and the Bugaboo Boogie Board all attach to existing single strollers and offer older tots a place to stand while being wheeled around town. While the boards do require kids to stand, they also allow them to jump on and off.
Wagons like Fisher Price Kid Utility Vehicle and the Step2 Neighborhood Wagon allow tots to face each other as they cruise around town. Best for shorter distances, the wagons are a fun alternative since they also contain compartments for storing food and toys.
Baby carriers allow mums to carry their littlest one close while pushing an older sibling in the carriage. By doing so, the big brother or sister don't feel like they have to give up their ride for the new addition.
Sit-and-stand strollers like the Baby Trend Columbia, Mia Moda Compagno, and Joovy Caboose provide a middle ground between single and double carriages. They have seat baby in front and have space for the older kid to sit or stand in back.
The new Twoo is a seat adapter for Bugaboo strollers, which attaches directly to the wheeled board and offers older tots a place to rest their bums when they are tired of standing.

Strollin': Taga Gets New Mamas Moving

There's always an excuse to get out of exercising - especially when there's a new baby in tow. The Dutch, who take their bicycle riding rather seriously (check out their balance bikes) and are known for their innovative stroller design (think about the Bugaboo), are at it again with the Taga - a combination high-end stroller and bicycle. Though the Taga has yet to make its American debut, we wonder if it will be a hit when it gets here. The unique design easily converts from a regular stroller to a bicycle carrier and even to a double-seat stroller, making it easy for mom to exercise with the kids!

Ever wonder just how much wear and tear a celebrity puts on her baby products? Now is your chance to learn first-hand while helping those in need. Gwen Stefani has teamed up with handmedowns.com, a site that allows moms to buy, sell, give away, or donate new and gently used baby & kids gear, to auction off five of her sons' items including Kingston's Bugaboo Cameleon, his Radio Flyer wagon, and the boys' ExerSaucer.

All of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the Orangewood Foundation and the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, helping seriously ill children and children in the foster care system. The auction ends on Feb. 20 and the bidding process is very active. But if you want items better fit for your little girl, wait until next month when Nicole Richie auctions off some of Harlow's gear.
