Celeb mamas may not stress as much as the rest of us over their typical waterside fashion, but their selections are all over the map when they are pregnant. While Britney Spears and Nicole Richie opted for the bikini, letting their bellies steal the show, Gwen Stefani kept hers under wraps while accompanying her boys down to the water. To bare the belly or not to bare it was my dilemma last week. On a trip down to San Diego, I packed a tankini, a one piece, and a bikini.

On the first beach day, I donned the tankini. After tugging down on it throughout the day, I was ready to toss it in the ocean. For fear of frightening other beach goers, I decided to slip on my one piece the following day. I assumed it would be the most comfortable and practical option, but it proved otherwise. My tummy stretched the boob line way below acceptable levels, and it made me look like a blob. Displeased, I quickly changed into my bikini. Although I looked much plumper, I actually felt more confident than I usually do in a two piece. With my baby-hatching belly on parade, I didn't worry about my typical insecurities.

Other beach moms complimented me on my bare belly, while I am sure others glared from beneath their shades. Either way, I was relieved to feel secure (both physically and mentally) in my sand suit. So here's what I say - if you've got a baby bump, flaunt it.

How Do You Feel About Bikinis on Tots?

Growing up, my sister and I wore matching swimsuits. She donned the bikini style while I wore the one piece. Innocent with her chubby legs and a single curl on the back of her head, I never thought twice about putting my daughter in a two–piece. Other moms feel it sexualizes lil ladies at too young an age.

Already mother to lil Liam, the pregnant celeb who is eight months along bared her belly in frolicking poolside poses for a spread promoting her memoir in Life&Style.

A Us article about the photo shoot said:

"So far I've gained 25 pounds and am loving my body!" Spelling, 34, told photo agency Startraks during the March 20 shoot in Beverly Hills. "I'm eating whatever my body tells me it needs and wants.

Lynette Tells It Like It Is

In the season six premiere of Desperate Housewives, viewers find out that Lynette and Tom are expecting twins again. As a mother who knows the routine, she goes in for a doctor's appointment and begins chatting with a perky, first-time mom-to-be. A straight shooter, Lynette tells the woman some stories that could make our Why Didn't Anybody Tell Me list and rains on the pregnant lady's parade. I was in stitches as she reveals some ugly truths of motherhood, especially the bit about bikinis, but the end of the episode left me a tad teary as she wonders about her ability to love the unexpected babies.
