The month of September brings the lazy days of Summer to an end and ushers in back to school madness. There are new backpacks to buy, school supplies to be collected and healthy lunches to be made.
When it comes to school shopping I try to focus on the staples, but always leave a little room for fun accessories that can help make mornings (and the overall organizational process) easier.

The bulletin boards are decorated and the supply closets are full. It's time to head back to school, and that means even Tinseltown's tots are heading into their homerooms. Take a look at these star student pics and see if you can guess which celeb mamas were spotted in the carpool line last year.

School's in session. If you want to give your daughter fashion wings, send her off to hit the books in butterflies. The beautiful bugs are adorning everything from tops to pants to belts to adorable undies this season.

Certain smells evoke memories and when it comes to a fresh eraser, a box of crayons, a freshly sharpened pencil, glue, or markers, I am immediately thrown back to my second grade classroom with Mrs. Wright, who coincidentally was rarely ever wrong.
School rules are stricter these days, prohibiting some children from bringing fancy pencils to school for fear they may show up their classmates. To that end, I get it.

With the Summer coming to an end health experts have begun warning parents about some of the unhealthy food routines that go along with school and daycare. Health Day News offered up some helpful reminders that inspired me to think about ways to make my children's lunches fresh and healthy.
- Start the day off right: Research has shown that children who skip breakfast don't do as well in school as students who eat breakfast.

It's time to get your tots ready for the new school year! No back-to-school ensemble is complete without a backpack. And, of course the satchel isn't just a fashion statement, but useful in carrying those books!

At the park, a boy twice my daughter's age called her a "bit**" and threw sand in her face. She's 4. If this type of incident occurs at our local playground while the kids are accompanied by parents and nannies, what happens once they head off to school on their own?
