Many doctors prescribe Clomid to women in an effort to enhance their ovulation. If that doesn't work, insemination or IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) are often next steps. While these procedures often help couples reproduce, others look to acupuncture as another fertility tool.

Acupuncture is "a Chinese medical practice or procedure that treats illness or provides local anesthesia by the insertion of needles at specified sites of the body." While it sounds a little harrowing, many who receive the treatment say the needles don't hurt at all.

Some attribute the success of acupuncture to the lowering of stress and increasing the blood flow to the reproductive system. And although it doesn't guarantee a baby, it gives couples another option.

There's some good news for women wishing to be with child according to a study published in the British Medical Journal. Research showed that acupuncture might increase the chances of infertility treatments working since for every ten IVF cycles done with the healing method, there was an extra pregnancy. babysugar Diaries: Breech and Turning

One of the things I discovered in the last couple of weeks during all of my many prenatal visits is that my baby is currently breech. With an overload of amniotic fluid floating around my baby, this wee one has been flipping around like a dolphin inside. Time is still on my side and I'm hoping the child will find its way down in the next few weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid a c-section that breech positioning often requires. A co-worker of mine just went through just about every procedure to turn her baby.

Devastated by her breech positioning, my friend tried all of the following to get her baby head down.

Burning moxibustion sticks by her feet to draw the baby down while speaking kindly and in encouraging tones to the child.
Elevating the lower half of her body while lying on her back.
Flashlight
Acupuncture
Chiropractor
Ice packs on top of your tummy where the baby's head might be.
External version - the medical procedure where doctors try to turn the baby by externally pushing on the mother-to-be's stomach.

Unfortunately, non of these tricks worked but in the end, she had a healthy happy baby so the method of delivery was a non-issue!
