Tips For Keeping Lil Feet Out of High Heels

Is trendy tot Suri Cruise causing problems for moms other than her own? Though mamas may envy the precarious preschooler's designer duds, her love of mini high heels has other lil girls asking for a pair of their own, and is drawing the ire of doctors and parenting experts alike.

On a recent appearance on The Early Show, Parents magazine editor Dana Points advised parents to steer their lil ones away from the grown-up footwear until their pre-teen years:

"At the age of 5 and on up until 10, 12, the bones are still forming. The print is forming. You can get some shortening of the tendons in the heels. So you really don't want to let them spend more than a little time every week in some kind of heel."

Though 56 percent of LilSugar readers have kept their wee ones' feet planted firmly on the ground, keeping budding royalty away from the heels that their adored princesses wear isn't easy. Points recommends pre-shopping at shoe stores in order to offer little girls a few more sensible options and then provide them with tools for accessorizing their kicks like clip-on flowers, rhinestones and fabric markers.

When it comes to the most stylish celebaby, not a whole lot has changed in one year. Voted as the hippest toddler in Tinseltown in 2008, Suri Cruise was once again anointed the most stylish celebrity tot of 2009.

Sporting silver liquid leggings, high-heeled dancing shoes and endless floral frocks, the sweet pea is more fashion forward at 4-years-old than most people 10 times her age. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes bankrolling the wardrobe. A mini fashionista, her miniature threads are droolworthy but it is her confidence and sweet smile that truly make every outfit precious.

We've all been there. It's frigid outside and your wee one refuses to don the topper that is sure to keep his noggin warm. Other moms stare at you and occasionally you hear, "Where is his hat?!" as if you never thought of such a novel idea. Try as we might, our lil ones don't always go along with our plans. In recent weeks, we're noticed sweet Suri, stylish as she may be, has been remiss in putting on a sweater or coat to keep her warm while everyone around her is bundled up in down jackets and scarves. Mama Katie and daddy Tom surely must try to cover her up but it appears tank dresses and dancing heels may be all the young girl fancies. Perhaps she is cold-blooded and not bothered by the wintry weather, or maybe her parents have decided the lack of clothing is not worth the temper tantrum. I know I've given up the hat wars myself.

The best look on any child is a smile but when babes start to flaunt their own style, it's pretty stinkin' cute. Hollywood's mini fashionistas are working the local playgrounds and leaving trends in the wake. Honor Warren and Harlow Madden are queens of adorable accessories while Johan Samuel is known to sport Ed Hardy on occasion. Tiny dancer Suri Cruise rocks heels while her peers Violet Affleck and Ruby Maguire keep it Juicy and Splendid in stripes and sweats. And in every stylish group, there has to be a rock star but we've got two - Kingston Rossdale and Bronx Wentz. It's hard to pick from such a studly group, but one of these tots deserves your vote!

Celebaby Style: Suri Cruise Steps Out in Silver and Suede

Suri Cruise is one hot tot that sets the bar when it comes to celebaby style. Her high heel wearing ways have made her the hot topic in many mommy groups of late but it was this outfit that caught my attention. A sign of a true fashionista, Suri's ensemble looks perfectly effortless. Methinks "Stylist" might make it onto the lil sass's resume faster than any other profession.

All bundled up and protected from the NYC weather, the lil lady wore silver liquid leggings and a posh set of kid-friendly Petite Maloles "Celia" purple suede flats before stepping out in the rain. While the $160 shoes may be a bit steep for most moms who know they will end up in a sandpit, they are less apt to cause a twisted ankle than a pair of pumps. Keeping the flash below, she tops it off with a simple hot pink dress and a conservative Juicy Couture sweater that screams sweet girl. And for those who worry about her ability to hold onto youth, just take a gander at her Disney princess umbrella; it doesn't look like Jasmine and Aurora are going anywhere anytime soon.

Katie Holmes's 3-year-old sidekick recently strutted her stylish stuff down a Boston street in shimmery shoes. The wee one has worn designer garb since leaving the womb and is often primped and polished, so it's no surprise that her latest footwear selection gives her about an inch on her peers.

When a rumor circulated a while back about the girly girl getting a custom made pair of $2,500 Christian Louboutin shoes, 81 percent of LilSugar readers said the pricey accessory only belonged in a mama's closet.
