While dinners often serve as a family meeting of sorts, some busy broods pencil in a separate meeting time in hopes of improving family communication, conflict resolution, and discussing other issues that may come up. The digital age of emailing, cell phones, and social networking has made it possible for many families to interact without coming face-to-face with one another. Though it may seem old-fashioned, some crews choose to assemble the troops on a regular basis.

No doubt about it - parenting is the toughest job... period. The only thing that could make it harder is the prospect of being a single mom holding down a job in a tough economy. Mums who are running the show on their lonesome are admirable and strong and though they may not say it out loud, they can often use a helping hand. This small stick figured animated clip, which was shown at the Washington Area Women's Foundation annual leadership luncheon, serves as a good reminder that it takes a village to raise a child, which results in a happy mother.

Delilicious: Marshmallow Sprinkle Skulls

After seeing BabySugar's ghostly cupcakes, I wanted to bake something Halloweenish for my wee ones. I was thrilled when I found these simple and adorable marshmallow skulls – a perfect decoration for a Halloween baked good. With only a bag of marshmallows, color sprinkles and a knife, I turned a regular marshmallow into a spooky skull.

Rather than make elaborate chocolate-coated Madelines as the recipe called for, I made a simple brownie recipe. I cooked the brownies in a muffin tin for easy individual servings. Rather than coat the brownies in frosting to attach the skulls, I waited for the brownies to cool slightly and the warmth melted the marshmallows just enough. Jell-O Jiggler Jack-O'-Lanterns and Bats

Tired of the same ol', same ol'? Almost every Halloween soiree is guaranteed to offer up candy and caramel covered apples. Take the opportunity to serve up something refreshing, fun and super easy to make. Whip up some Jell-O jigglers in festive colors and shapes. Tots will get fired up to offer a helping hand and mama will delight in the easy clean up and simple recipe.

Pick out colors to suit your fancy. I chose orange and purple for their Halloween spirit and their tasty purposes.
Use the Jell-O jiggler recipe given on the side of the box - it is not the same as regular Jell-O!
When the Jell-O has settled, pull the trays out of the refrigerator and place it on a larger bin or warm water to loosen the bottom of the Jell-O.
For ease, I cut the Jell-O into squares with a wet knife and then removed the pieces and placed them on a level cutting board.
Dip the your cookie cutters into water before using it on the Jell-O -it makes for smoother edges.
Peel the excess away from the cookie cutter and use your spatula to remove the jiggler from the cutting board. Place it on the serving tray.

When all of the jigglers have been cut out, mama can enlist her troops to decorate the lil fellas. Use miniature marshmallows and pink decorating gel for eyes and black decorating gel for the jack-o'-lantern's mugs. If you want to add some flair to the tray, use a small circular object and cut out small bits of Jell-O to the edges.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 200,000 children visit the emergency room each year for playground injuries. Before packing up the snacks and sporting equipment, check out our top five tips for keeping lil hands, heads and legs free from injury.

Don't ride on slides with your tots. According to a new study, placing a child on your lap to ride down a slide can significantly increase the possibility of fracturing their legs. When a child's leg gets stuck against the side of a slide, the pressure from a parent behind them can cause it to bend in ways that force it to break.
Keep swinging on the swing set, not from mama's arms. Though swinging from mommy's arms may be fun, the pressure from doing so can cause lil elbow bones to be pulled partially out of joint, leading to a condition called Nursemaid Elbow that can be very painful for tots.

After years of trying to successfully become pregnant, a viable pregnancy is the best news a reproductively challenged couple can receive.
