Sep 14 2009 - 9:00am The picture of the all-American family that lives in the house with a picket fence has long included a mom, dad, and two children. Most restaurants have tables for four readily available. When mamas and papas choose to have two offspring, they are never outnumbered.

Everyone finds their own perfect number. I do think that have 2 parents and 2 children probably makes things much easier in the ways you described above, but I think that every family makes excuses for their number being the best. One child means 3 seats on an airplane and no one sits alone. 2 children means a table for 4. 3 children is the "magic number" for alot of people. 4 children means no middle child. All have their benefits and challenges.
1We have little difficulty finding accommodations for all of us. My main problem is hotels - they often state that their limit is 4 per room. Well, that's kind of impossible if only one parent's there and you have 4 or 5 kids tagging along. But I wouldn't say anywhere else has been difficult.
I don't claim I have the best number of children for anyone but myself.
