For mums on the run who put in hours at the office before they shuttle kids to soccer practice, Puma offers a collection of comfortable shoes that lighten their load. I keep a pair of their cushy Ginza Sneakers ($70) in the trunk of my car so I can kick off my heels and slip into shoes that are fit for carting my tots around the mall or lugging groceries once I'm off work. Sold in fashionable colors, the sleek sneakers look more like sporty flats than athletic shoes.

As if they aren't cute enough, babies also get the best footwear. When it comes to covering your lil walker's toes, what type of shoes do you choose?
Soft slippered Robeez, sandal like Crocs, old school Converse, PediPeds to keep up with celebs, Pumas to run in, cub foot bottomed Pazitos, or See Kai Run for more advanced walkers.

When it's time to go shopping for your lil one's first pair of shoes, it's good to take baby steps. Between my two kids, I've purchased my share of pairs, and many of them barely got their soles dirty.
While the classic white walker is the thing bronzed baby shoes are made of, putting them on your child can prove to be cumbersome.

Shoes may make an outfit, but when it comes to children's feet, function often takes precedence. Some of mama's favorite designers are shrinking down their styles to make lil ones' feet as fashionable as adult footwear.
Simple: Puma's Speeder Mesh Sneaker ($38) has been a popular shoe among the toddler set for some time.

My son was a Puma walker, a Van's runner and recently became an Adidas climber. Needing a bit more traction for when he climbs up the slides backwards and cushion when he drops from the monkey bars, we invested in a couple pairs of kicks that would keep him light and fast on his feet, but are also easy enough to slip on and off as we scramble from home to car to running errands. Available in indigo, rave green, lava and pink, these sneakers ($35) will have your kids on their toes.

Slip into Summer with a pair of versatile Vans ($25) for your lil one. In the past, I've been partial to Pumas, but as the warm weather moves in and trips to the beach become more frequent, the traditional canvas shoes allow my tots to take them on and off on their own. And, the sturdy soles help them navigate hillsides a bit better than sandals.
