Thomas Beatie, who garnered media attention as the "pregnant man," gave birth to a baby girl today! Beatie and his wife, Nancy, have not disclosed the method of delivery. The child is Thomas's first. Nancy has two daughters from a previous relationship. Congratulations to the family!

Since announcing his pregnancy, I've been fascinated by transgender man, Thomas Beatie. Until he appeared on Oprah to tell his unique story, many were convinced the tale was a hoax. But, more than the biology of the situation, I've been captivated by the intense reactions people have had to his decision to have a child.

Whether it will be a best–seller remains to be seen, but Thomas Beatie is penning his memoirs in a book titled Love Makes a Family: A Memoir of Hardship, Healing and an Extraordinary Pregnancy.

Pregnant Man Tells His Story to the World

As many of you know, Thomas Beatie, also known as the transgender pregnant man, appeared with his wife, Nancy, on Oprah yesterday to share their story with the world.

For the people who anticipated a freak show, it was anything but as the loving couple chatted with Oprah about their decision to have a baby and to make it public. Adding even more normalcy, Nancy's two daughters from a previous marriage were there supporting their mama and step–dad.

Formerly known as Tracy, Thomas is now a man with his lady reproductive parts still in tact. Like many married folks, he and Nancy wanted to have a biological child. Thomas said it was a dream of his to eventually have a baby so he kept his reproductive organs when he began his gender transition. When the duo wanted to start their family, Thomas was the only one who could bear offspring as Tracy suffered from endometriosis and had her womb removed years ago.

A highly unusual situation, the couple has faced disbelief, disgust and dismay from many people.

The Beaties believe that the most important thing for a baby is to be surrounded by caring and loving parents despite their gender, sexual preferences, race, etc.

Last week, I asked you if you thought the pregnant man was a hoax and you were split on the issue.

But, the mystery is solved since Thomas Beatie is set to appear on today's Oprah. So if you have to see it to believe it, tune in and watch as they perform an ultrasound and show off the nursery.

Is the Pregnant Man a Hoax?

In the last few days, the news has been buzzing about a transgender (woman–turned–man except for the sexual organs) fellow who claims to be 20 weeks pregnant with a baby girl.

But, Thomas Beatie's neighbors and others aren't convinced he's telling the truth. One neighbor said:

Quite frankly, I think it's a hoax. I saw him a few days ago, and he didn't look like that.

Since Thomas kept his female reproductive parts, he was able to conceive. Having taken testosterone injections for years, the former female looks like an expectant man. Obstetrician Lisa Masterston from Cedar Sinai told Good Morning America that there is one other transgender pregnancy on record and that it's entirely possible if all the parts are still in place. She also said the dad-to-be should stop his hormone injections for the sake of the baby's reproductive organs.

For the Childless, Womb Transplants Are on the Horizon

Some women have known all their lives that they were meant to be mothers. When nature does not allow for a man and woman to procreate on their own, people can take alternative routes to building their families: adoption, surrogacy, and in vitro fertilization. But for some ladies, it's not enough to take in an orphaned child or even have another woman carry her own flesh and blood. In that case, a womb transplant could be a dream come true and is very likely to become a reality sooner than later.

Scientists in London successfully performed a womb transplant in rabbits, giving hope to the future of human womb transplants. While there are medical issues to be conquered and experiments yet to be performed, the researchers believe the technique will be tested on women within two years. The topic of human reproduction always proves to be a volatile one. Some will argue the world is already overpopulated and there are plenty of children starving for homes. But for those women who crave the desire to be pregnant, the medical procedure could be the answer to their prayers.

Mama's Hiding Her Pregnancy For a Raise

Pregnancy is to be celebrated but there are rare occasions when a woman tries to hide her expectant status to reap the benefits of a vacant womb, especially in the workplace. In the "Never Judge a Lady by Her Lover" episode of Desperate Housewives, Carlos gives Lynette a promotion that she initially tries to reject knowing she has two babies in her belly. When the boss man mentions the salary increase, she quickly takes the offer and keeps her mouth shut about her impending arrivals. As he walks out the door, he admits he is giving the job to Lynette because the other candidate appears to be pregnant, making Lynette the more attractive option of the two.

When I read Accidentally On Purpose, Mary Pols' honest and witty text transcended typical mommy lit and unfolded like the best movie I'd ever seen -little did I know it would hit the small screen! Tonight CBS premieres its sitcom based on the autobiographical book by the 39-year-old film critic who got pregnant during a one-night stand with a man 10 years her junior. I'm excited to see how the network and cast (which stars Jenna Elfman and British actress Ashley Jensen, who recently chatted with BuzzSugar) adapt the story of the couple who forged a friendship with benefits as they prepared to raise their child together into episodes. Why Didn't Anybody Tell Me? Daddy's Wardrobe

"Oh, you'll be wearing your maternity clothes for a while after you have that baby." Expectant moms don't exactly want to hear that when they've been forced to wear the same old tired threads for the past four months. Plus, most every pregnant lady dreams her body will bounce back to pre-baby shape before she even leaves the hospital. However, many moms do find solace in their partner's over-sized shirts, baggy jeans and spacious boxers.

The elastic waistband on those maternity pants is enough to make a new mom cry, especially one on a hormone roller coaster. While she may not want to attend the company Christmas party in her hubby's retired work shirts, they sure do make cozy nap time attire and the worn in jeans will make a swollen mommy weep tears of joy. Come bed time, the old man's hole ridden college tees and raggedy boxers are just what the exhausted mum needs to get a good night's (and by that I mean two to three hour stretches) sleep. Did you sport your man's clothes postpartum?

Pregnant Woman Left Behind As Her Boyfriend Flees Cops

Carrying someone else's child doesn't necessarily mean they'll treat you like a queen. One Vermont man tried to escape police by leading them on a chase with the mother of his unborn child in his company. Paying no mind to how speeding or "clipping" houses might affect the eight–month expecting mother, he finally ended the rampant race when he rammed into a tree and fled the scene. The mother–to–be was taken to a hospital for precautionary measures, but it sounds like she escaped without major injuries or giving birth!

Of his own volition, the suspect arrived at the police headquarters later that afternoon where he was cited for multiple offenses - none of which included leaving his baby mama behind. I hope she makes him serve time for that crime. I have my own ideas of what I would do to him. You?
