LeVar Burton and the executives of Reading Rainbow taught children that they could do anything, but no one could get funding to continue the beloved show's broadcasting rights. The PBS series based on texts and inspiring kids to pick them up and turn their pages has ended. Though the program won numerous Emmys and aired for 26-years, its tried and true approach is different than what networks are now offering young viewers.

All they need is love? The British documentary Hold Me Tight, Let Me Go airs tonight on PBS, taking a yearlong look at the the Mulberry Bush School in Oxford, England, where 40 emotionally disturbed children board. The three-year program centers on patience and kind human interaction as a last resort for these youngsters.

I'd much rather see my kids play at the park than seated in front of the television, but there's one show I don't mind them watching. In fact, even I enjoy Postcards from Buster.
The animated star of this PBS series, Buster Baxter is also on the show, Arthur.
