It's time to put up another calendar and shake Father Time's hand once again. Some folks will toast the clock from snowy caps of cold mountains while others light up fireworks on warm shores. City dwellers may revel in the streets to watch a ball drop and some may watch Carson Daly countdown the minutes from the comfort of their own homes. But parents may not have a choice in the matter as babysitters are tough to find on one of the biggest party nights of the year. Still, some may prefer to spend the evening at home with their lil lovies playing Bop It and other family games.

I let my children stay up late on birthdays, family gatherings, and holidays. On Wednesday night, my son and daughter are welcome to ring in 2009 with us if they can keep their eyes open.

One holiday down, one to go! Pre-baby, New Year's Eve meant a new outfit, a long night of parties and lounging the next day. Since my kids were born, the festivities have tamed down quite a bit. We will be ringing in 2009 at home with our lil ones, but many moms have trouble finding a caretaker for their children.
