When Did Your Kids Attend Their First Concert?

Keep on rocking it baby! After listening to music in the womb, kids love a toe-tapping beat. For many children, music classes are their first foray into an organized group activity, while others spend a portion of their day bopping to the tunes coming out of their mama's iPod.

An outing to a concert by a "real" artist is a milestone that few people forget. While rock star offspring like Kingston and Zuma Rossdale, Apple Martin and Bronx Wentz began their concert-going experience at an early age, others may have to wait until they are bit older. We recently saw Cara and Mady Gosselin attend a Jonas Brothers concert, while Ava and Deacon Phillippe rocked out to Billy Joel and Elton John with their mom.

Tens of thousands of prepubescent girls and their mamas waited up to a day and a half in the rain to see Miley Cyrus perform on the Today Show last week.

A song can take one back to a place and time with just a few notes. For instance, take "Living on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi. Rock stars are known for wearing black so mamas can stick with an ebony and ivory themed room using a contrasting Moses basket and a zebra striped rug. Highlight the digs with a vibrant locker inspired lime green dresser. Baby can walk into a melodious wonderland with musically embroidered beanbags, guitar decals, and turntable pillows. Moms can add a personal touch by framing old sheet music or shadowboxing saved concert tickets. And if the parents are hoping for a mini musician, they better provide the tot the tools to get a head start on tickling those ivories.

There's nothing better than a concert in the car and having kiddos doesn't change that, but many mamas switch the tunes they blast as tots grow old enough to understand the lyrics. Gwyneth Paltrow recently told Conan O'Brien that her lil sensitive thug Moses, 3, chills out to Jay-Z's "99 Problems," quickly adding that the song may not be all that appropriate. Do you turn the dial or let your youngsters rock and roll regardless of lyrics?

Ritmo Prenatal: Kid Friendly or Are You Kidding?

Pregnant women are barraged with ads for products that are designed to ease their pregnancy and make their babies smarter in utero. I can't tell you how many coupons and brochures I have received for nutritional snack bars and belly creams while expecting.

I had long read about the benefits of playing music for children before birth, but had limited it to the radio in my car and my iPod speaker system. It may be time to take it to a new level with the introduction of the Ritmo Prenatal, a set of headphones made expressly for pregnant bellies. With four speakers built into a soft harness, the Ritmo Prenatal has a cable that connects directly to your MP3 player allowing you and your baby to listen to the music of your choice. According to the photos on the site, the belt can be worn directly against the belly or over clothing and should be comfortable, as the company encourages wearing it while grocery shopping and walking the dog.

The Ritmo Prenatal will not be available until January, which is a bit too late for me, but tell me, would you be willing to shell out the approximately $100 the product will cost?
