Jessica Simpson to Design Maternity Collection For Destination Maternity

Well that didn't take long! Just two weeks after giving birth to her first baby girl, Maxwell Drew, Jessica Simpson is welcoming another new addition - a maternity clothing collection to be sold exclusively at Destination Maternity. As predicted, the Jessica Simpson Collection - an extension of her already massive fashion house that's known for creating affordable, current styles - will reflect the Fashion Star judge's decidedly '70s pregnancy style, including plenty of denim, leggings, flowing maxis, and vintage print tops. We're sure there will be a smattering of leopard and snakeskin prints thrown in the mix, too, judging by her fashion choices during her own pregnancy! Pieces from the collection - which will also include blazers, knits, and formfitting jersey knit dresses, will range from $36 to $70 and will hit store racks this Fall.

Jessica joins the likes of Nicole Richie and Heidi Klum, who both created limited collections for the maternity clothing giant in the past, and Rosie Pope, whose Summer capsule collection will enter A Pea in the Pod stores this June.

A First Look at the Rosie Pope Collection For A Pea in the Pod

It really is looking like this is the Summer of the British Invasion. With British boy bands burning up the charts, the London Olympics just a few months away, and the Queen's jubilee celebration about to begin, we can't turn around without spotting the Union Jack! Now the maternity world is set to be conquered by none other than Pregnant in Heels star and British expat Rosie Pope. As we told you earlier this year, Rosie Pope is creating a capsule collection for A Pea in the Pod filled with designs similar to her own high-end boutique pieces, but at a fraction of the price (pieces from the collection will start at $85).

I caught up with the expectant Rosie (she's less than two weeks away from delivering her third child and the second season of her show) to see the collection firsthand - and it's beautiful. The 15 "desk-to-dinner" pieces - including a shirt dress, shifts, silk tops, blazers, and cardigans - are designed to make moms-to-be feel more glamorous than ever before. And as for the design details, Rosie said she was inspired by what Kate Middleton wears. For all of the bending down the nonpregnant Duchess must do when greeting people, she chooses tops with higher necklines and lower backs, thus avoiding wardrobe malfunctions. Rosie employed the same principle for her new collection, hoping to keep pregnant women's growing assets covered up, but not in a frumpy way. When asked about an overall theme for the collection, she noted that it definitely has sex on its mind - just like many of her clients on the show this season! Congratulations to Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson on the birth of Maxwell Drew! The baby girl, born this morning in LA, reportedly weighed in at nine pounds, 13 ounces.

We've admired the songstress and fashion designer's maternity style since officially announcing her pregnancy via Twitter in late October. While attending promotional events, awards shows, and hitting the streets of NYC and LA, she looked fabulous at each stop! While leopard print and black seemed to be Jessica's pregnancy fashion staples, we can't wait to hear if she went through with her plan to wear a leopard caftan in the delivery room!
