"Sasha, I'm telling you... it's just water!" If there's one confidant a girl can depend on, it's usually her sister. Malia (left) and Sasha Obama attended the "Fiesta Latina" on the South Lawn of the White House where Salsa and Spanish music were the tunes of choice. While we weren't actually privy to the darlings' conversation, we can only imagine what the two were whispering about in the dark. Known for her astute observations, Malia may have decided to announce that she too, wanted an adult wine glass full of sparkling water.

Who's in Charge of the Pets: Mom or Kids?

Just about every kid wants a pet during their childhood and begging and pleading generally play a role in acquiring animals. As a bargaining tool, children tend to promise to care for the furry friend - feeding, bathing and walking the newest family member.

First Lady Michelle Obama fell victim to such empty pledges from her two daughters, Sasha and Malia. She recently sold them out:

I got up at 5:15 a.m. in the morning to walk my puppy... Even though the kids are supposed to do a lot of the work, I'm still up at 5:15 a.m. taking my dog out. So for everyone who has a child asking for a puppy - you have to want the dog, as I do. I love my Bo.

The Obama Girls Get Their Puppy!

There will be paws padding around the White House soon! According to recent reports, Malia and Sasha Obama will be the proud owners of a six-month-old Portuguese Water Dog named Bo. Initially, the first family was going to adopt a rescue animal, but ended up with this pup that was returned to its breeder. The newest resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is supposed to make its official debut this Tuesday.

While there's nothing cuter than the bonds between children and their critters, the Obama girls are mature enough to help raise the animal. Does your family have a pet or are you waiting until your kids are of a certain age?

Simple or Swank: The Obama Girls' New Swing Set

While not necessarily the most extravagant swing set, their parents surprised them with a deluxe addition that would leave most tots jumping for joy!
Simple: The Rainbow All-American Double Decker ($1,700) is made expressly for Costco and includes two forts, three swings, a picnic table, sandbox, rock wall, ship's wheel, telescope, and climbing rope. Made of all-American timber, the set is sure to last for many years of outdoor play.

Swank: While you might not be able to buy an exact replica of the Obama girls' new play structure (it is etched with the names of all 44 presidents and has a plaque stating, "Malia and Sasha's castle handcrafted with pride in the heartland of America . . . They say kids grow up fast, but Ty, the toy company famous for making Beanie Babies, has given Malia and Sasha Obama a lil push. The manufacturer is now marketing dolls in the supposed likeness of the 7- and 10-year-old first daughters. Only instead of capturing their classy and age-appropriate essence, the young ladies were made to look like identical teenagers. What's your opinion - would you buy these for your child?

A new home is exciting for any girl, but when the residence is the White House, there's a whole lot more to explore. While President Barack Obama and the first lady were out painting the town red, white and blue on Tuesday night, Malia and Sasha enjoyed some festivities thrown by staffers. The duo took in Disney movies with a few friends and participated in a scavenger hunt that led to a surprise private concert with the Jonas Brothers. The musical trio played songs and posed for pictures with the first daughters and their guests. One report talked about the other pint-sized perks of living in the nation's most famous residence. The 55,000-square-foot mansion boasts a private bowling alley, a movie theater that the Obamas likely broke in for the first time last night, and a children's garden. First children have historically let loose on the White House grounds.

Malia and Sasha Obama Have Lax Rules at Grandma's House

The first daughters aren't much different than most kids. They have one set of rules at home with their parents and another when they are visiting grandma. Michelle Obama's mama, Marian Robinson, 72, who looked after her grandchildren while President Barack Obama and his wife were on the campaign trail, said she abides by their rules in their house. The famous granny said:

"I follow the rules at Michelle's house. At my house, they're my rules. (Laughs.) I know Michelle is strict ... When I'm at their house, the girls are doing all the stuff their mother has told them to do, there's not much left for me to do! But when they're at my house, they don't have to scrape the dishes – and they get to watch TV."

Contrary to all the talk, Marian also noted that she wouldn't be talking up permanent residence in the White House. Do your children enjoy more lax rules when they are with their grandparents?

Obama Girls Are Just Gorgeous in J. Crew!

Malia and Sasha Obama looked stunning in punchy colored coats and scarves as they stood beside their father, President Barack Obama, and watched him take the oath of office this morning. Malia opted for bright blue and black accessories, while her little sis, Sasha, wore pale pink accented with orange.

The thick coats were softened by satin sashes that made an age-appropriate fashion statement while keeping the young ladies warm. Life&Style confirmed that the darling coats were from Crewcuts. What an exciting life the Obama girls will have in Washington!
