After agreeing to give ex-husband Kevin Federline custody of her kids, Britney Spears singled out Jenny McCarthy at a Generation Rescue event hosted by the former playmate-turned-author and her beau, Jim Carrey. While Jenny was a bit of a wild child back in the day, she's gained the respect and admiration of many as an advocate for autism. Since her son, Evan, 6, was diagnosed with the developmental disorder, she has used her celebrity to bring attention to it.

Last night Larry King Live helped highlight National Autism Awareness Day by inviting actress and author Jenny McCarthy to a panel about autism with four well–known doctors. As the mother of an autistic son, Jenny has become a spokesperson for the disorder, which affects one in every 150 children. The debate on the cause of autism often becomes deeply personal and heated and last night's show was no exception.

All aboard the Christmas Carol Express! To promote their upcoming movie, A Christmas Carol, Disney has created a real-life locomotive experience for families that showcases graphic artwork, actor interviews, motion development, historical artifacts, and computer-generated characters from the motion picture.
Last Friday, I took my children out to see the moving exhibit, which stopped in Northern California.

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey aren't the only ones advocating for families affected by autism. John LeSieur noticed his six-year-old grandson, Zac had a hard time navigating the web with all its sights and sounds and decided to lessen the autistic child's hardship. He designed the Zac Browser, a free software that according to the Associated Press, "essentially takes over the computer and reduces the controls available" making it easier for a child with the developmental disorder to focus.

Today, the advocate and her boyfriend, actor Jim Carrey will lead the Green Our Vaccines march and rally in Washington, DC Like many other parents, the celeb mama has been very vocal and firm in her belief that there is a link between autism and vaccinations and continues to campaign for more research. The host-turned-playmate-turned-activist penned, Louder Than Words: A Mother's Journey in Healing Autism, a book about her experience helping her six-year-old to overcome his symptoms.
