Born at 9:20 p.m., Helena Grace Rutherford Giersch is the second child the Gossip Girl actress has with ex-husband, Daniel Giersch. Though the former couple's recent feuds have made news headlines, Life & Style reports that the father was informed of the birth and invited to the hospital.

All a youngster needs to hear is the words, "swimming pool," to dash in and slip into a bathing suit. For parents, an open body of water means entertaining the "what ifs" that can cause stress and panic. Even well skilled wee swimmers fall victim to tragedy in an unsupervised pool.

Gossip Girl's very pregnant Kelly Rutherford is in a battle with her estranged husband, Daniel Giersch, over pool safety at his residence. Concerned for her 2-year-old son, Hermes' safety, the actress went as far as hiring a private eye to tape her ex's home for three days to illustrate the danger his uncovered pool poses to their young son. In court documents, Giersch said:

Hermes is not in any danger whatsoever with regard to my pool because I have the pool fully covered with an automatic pool cover. Hermes has no access to the pool area unless I take him to the pool myself.

Actress Kelly Rutherford is still breastfeeding her son, Hermes, 2, despite being pregnant with a second child. The 40-year-old says she will continue to nurse him as long as it feels right. Some health professionals advise weaning a tot once the mama becomes pregnant with another, while others say there is no reason for it.

Does daddy deserve to know mama is headed to the delivery room? Due to relationship strains, many moms-to-be opt to labor without their ex present. That may have been the case earlier this week with actress Kelly Rutherford. The father of her two children -Hermes, 2, and baby Helena - Daniel Giersch issued this statement.

I was never informed by Kelly about the birth of our daughter, nor was I invited to attend. In fact, I found out about it through Internet reports like everyone else. Although this sickens me, I am of course overjoyed that our baby was born healthy. I would've wanted nothing more than to hold our newborn daughter for a few moments, and I only seek to coparent both our children responsibly and with love.

Giersch said he was supposed to be informed by text or phone. Do you think a father should be informed that his offspring is on the way?
