Model Mamas Hit the Runway For Victoria's Secret

Host, shmost! Heidi Klum claimed she was only going to host the always anticipated Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, but the mama of four made a surprise appearance and walked her hot self down the runway with her tulleriffic attire. Having given birth to her second daughter, Lou, just over a month ago, she left the crowd in shock and awe. Also in attendance on the catwalk? Alessandra Ambrosio. The leggy new mom bared her toned tummy and long stems alongside veteran Klum. The pair certainly left some mums green with envy.

A couple of ladies noticeably absent from the show? Gisele Bündchen, Karolina Kurkova, and Adriana Lima. Gisele is still sporting her adorable baby bump, while the other two glamorous mommies just welcomed their bundles of joy weeks ago. It's a Girl For Heidi and Seal!

Wonder mama Heidi Klum (soon to be Samuel) and her hubby Seal welcomed their daughter Lou Samuel on Friday, Oct. 9. As the fourth babe of the brood, the wee lass will certainly have lots to learn from her older siblings. Henry, 4, and Johan, 2, will offer up tips on dealing with big sister Leni, 5. Meanwhile Leni will be able to teach her baby sister a thing or two about princess life as she seems to be quite the master of the subject. We can't wait to see how the costume loving family will dress the newbie up for the impending spooky holiday though the face paint may be off limits for the tiny tot.

In modern times, it is not surprising for mamas to keep their maiden names. In the case that the parents are happily together, many moms and pops give their child the father's last name. If, however, there was a less than amicable split before the birth, many mothers choose to label the baby with her own family moniker. Bridget Moynahan is one mama who thought her baby boy should be known under her name instead of her ex-beau, Tom Brady. Others, especially married ladies, like Heidi Klum take their man's name for themselves and pass it on to their offspring so that the whole brood shares one title. The Minivan Dilemma

Minivans may be one of the most unattractive vehicles on the road but when it comes to practicality, they are hard to beat. Buckets seats, third rows, deep trunks and sliding doors make the aerodynamic wheels hard to resist for parties of four or more. Before having kids, I swore up and down that I would never command such a vessel but now that I'm part of the motherload, I'm reconsidering my options. Even mama Heidi Klum admits to the wonder of the minivan. On her recent Ellen appearance, hostess Ellen asked the expectant lady if she could avoid the dreaded minivan to which Heidi replied, "No way. We all don’t fit otherwise... It’s impossible."

Heidi Klum Shows Off Her Third Trimester Knockout Body

The glitz and glamour of a black tie affair is enough to get any mama giddy about a night on the town. Trading in the sweats for a beautiful gown and primping in front of the mirror – be it for a fancy wedding, a charity event or a school function – can make a mom forget the bickering tots she leaves at home for the evening.

Though Heidi Klum makes it look effortless, finding a maternity dress that flatters an expectant mama's assets and hides her growing bump – especially in her last trimester – is no easy feat. The supermodel and mom of three, who looks to be due any day now, showed off just how sexy pregnancy can be at the Emmy Awards. Forgoing the traditional black empire-waist maternity dress, the Project Runway host opted for a custom black strapless Marchesa gown, remarking, "I wanted something simple because I'm so big."

Are maternity clothes just for the masses? While some celebrity moms are off designing their own lines of expectant frocks, others are quick to explain that they maintain their pre-pregnancy sense of style by forgoing paneled pants and tie-back shirts.

Heidi Klum, who is due with her fourth child this Fall, explained:

"My stylist tries to find things that are not maternity clothes, so I've been wearing a lot from The Row, by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. I love their clothes. Marc Jacobs too. You just buy things in a size 10 - when you're doing a show on fashion, you still have to bring it on."

Though we all might not have the genetic disposition to pull off the Project Runway host's tricks, there are several ways to stay in your regular wardrobe for as long as possible. Were you able to skip maternity clothes completely?

Models of perfection in their diamond encrusted bikinis, lingerie ladies Alessandra Ambrosia and Heidi Klum also make pregnancy look fabulous. The latter even admits to shortening hemlines on her maternity gear to keep her leggy look alive. Either their grace and ease into motherhood inspired their cat-walking cohorts to join the mommy club or Victoria's Secret is that there's a fertility potion in the water from which they all drink. One thing is for sure - the line up for this year's fashion show will look quite different from years past as some of the cherubs will be sporting baby bumps. Or maybe we will all be surprised when the bodacious bellies grace the runways with some sexy maternity lingerie! We mamas can dream anyway.
