Though my daughter was dressed in pink duds and floral prints for the first 18 months of her life, people would stop and say, "Oh, HE is so cute!" Hair clips for little girls are darn cute these days. I remember having long ribbon ones that my mom made for me when I was little. I loved them and wish I knew how to make them myself. Perhaps, I'll find out over the holidays and share that with you on my next Kidoodles.

Now that the tooth fairy has paid for her pearly white treasure, it's up to mom and dad to decide what to do with the tiny enamels. Prepping Junior For the Emergency Room

Sound the alarms! Lil Bobby fell out of a tree and broke his collarbone! Or maybe little Susi swallowed a hair clip. Sooner or later, most every parent will have to take his or her tot to the emergency room for immediate attention. It's only natural that babes suffering broken bones, high fevers and stove burns will be frightened to visit the hospital, but moms and dads can make the experience a bit easier with a few words and tricks from home. On the way there, take a breath from the chaos and explain the process and if you have time so your child knows what to expect. If you have the chance to grab goodies from home bring some snacks and something comforting (think teddy bear, video game, blanket) so your child feels comfortable.

Taking the Fear Out of Baby's First Budget Haircut

The first cut may be the deepest, but it doesn't have to be painful for mother or child. Taking the plunge and giving your lil one their first haircut is a momentous occasion for new parents. Though tradition says to wait until the first year before snipping away the baby curls, 22 percent of lilsugar readers clipped before their child's birthday. Take your tot to the salon with you so she will recognize the spray of the water bottle, the shine of the scissors and the combs and brushes that will be used for her cut.
Prepare your kiddo by talking about how he will be getting a haircut like Mommy and Daddy.
Plan the cut for a time when your child is well rested and in a good mood. First thing in the morning or right after a nap and snack are usually ideal.
Enlist the help of a friend or family member to entertain or distract the child during the process. A high chair may be a good seating option.
Give your child some toys or a spray bottle and turn on a video or the music he likes to keep him entertained.
Wet the child's hair with a spray bottle and comb the hair in the natural direction of growth.
Pull small sections of hair between your index and middle fingers, cutting the hair below the fingers in a straight line.
Start in the back of the head and then work your way around to the front as you gain confidence.
Cut small amounts first, knowing you can go back and cut more as needed.
Be prepared to take small breaks to play with the child throughout the process.
Invest in a pair of clippers that will only lop off a certain amount.

Ryder Robinson Rocks a Shorter Hair Style!

Kate Hudson hit the town with her 5-year-old sidekick, Ryder, who must have had his first hair cut! The lil guy known for his long dirty-blond locks now has a shorter-length look that frames his cute face. Twenty-two percent of lilsugar readers clipped their child's hair before their first birthday and just about everyone else gave clipper consent before their kiddo headed to kindergarten. Kate, a laid-back mama known for her bohemian and beachy style, might have liked her son's straggly strands and may have had a hard time parting with them.
