Kelly Ripa Talks Motherhood and "Me" Time

Kelly Ripa's a lil bombshell. The funny lady juggles hosting a TV show, her family of five, and still finds time for charity events, commercials, and magazine covers. This month, her piercing blue eyes grace the cover of First. In the accompanying interview the woman who seems to have it all talked about motherhood and needing "me" time.

On the importance of spending time alone: "I try to run everyday in the park. It's crucial to know who you are and how you feel. I find that I'm a better wife and mom if I take a half hour for myself every day. It can feel selfish, but it makes a big difference. If you don't do it, you'll feel overwhelmed and resentful. You want people to feel they can count on you. I feel they can when I take care of myself."

read more. On her traditional family life: "Marriage and having kids really agrees with us. Mark helps with homework, while I'll do a baking project for school. We look at each other and think, if our friends could see us now, they wouldn't believe what we've become! We really enjoy what our life has developed into. I try to do it all, and I don't do any of it particularly well. But at least I try. Sometimes the cookies get burnt, but what are you going to do?" Remembering her well-rounded upbringing: "My mother was way ahead of herself in terms of creative expression. Mom thought it was important for us to have music and dance lessons. There were times when I told her that I wasn't going to have time to do all my homework, and she would say, 'Well, I think it's more important that you're well-rounded.' She definitely struck the right balance." Taking a night out for herself: "During the summer, we do a once-a-month girls' night out. We'll meet for coffee or go to the beach together with the kids. Our husbands are always like, 'Why can't we join you?' I'm like, 'Um, it's called girls' night out. Why don't you have your own night out?' "

It's Valentine's Day at McKinley, and everyone gets in on the action in this week's episode of Glee. For the lesson, Mr. Schuester wants everyone to choose a great love song to perform, which means a lot of the action takes place in the relationship department. Finn and Rachel try to get everyone excited about their upcoming nuptials; Brittany and Santana deal with scrutiny of the nature of their relationship, and Mercedes and Sam may love each other, but they just can't seem to get it together.

At first, I was pretty excited that "Heart" was going to be an episode full of musical numbers, but it feels a little plot driven for my taste. Regardless, there's a lot happened this week, so get in on all details after the jump.

Natalie Portman and Dakota Fanning posed together before taking their front-row seats at Rodarte's NY Fashion Week presentation this afternoon. Also on hand to see Rodarte's 2012 collection were Maria Sharapova and George Lucas. Natalie's back home on the East Coast after a stint in LA, where she attended the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes. Last year, Natalie was a big award season winner for Black Swan, and she's finally lining up her first post-Oscar projects. Apparently, Natalie's involved in two Terrence Malick movies, Knight of the Cups and Lawless, which will film this Summer and Fall.

Set in a Rachel Feinstein-designed, storybook-inspired, castle-in-ruins Winter wonderland, Marc Jacobs presented his Fall 2012 collection with more than just a little fashion fanfare. The first word that comes to mind? Hats! And lots of them, all by mastermind milliner Stephen Jones, each one more wonderfully whimsical than the one before. These wild toppers, in addition to the parade of rich, slightly oversized outerwear, giant safety-pin closures, bejeweled square-toed shoes, luxe ostrich-skin handbags, and more, served as a serious testament to Marc's vivid imagination. Kate Middleton Continues Her Liverpool Tour at a Children's Hospital

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, was in Liverpool today for her second-ever day of official appearances on her own. She started things off with a visit to the alcohol-free bar The Brink, where she sampled a honey and almond smoothie christened "The Duchess" in her honor. Kate was next off to the Alder Hey Children’s hospital, where she met with young patients in the oncology section. She watched as they made Valentine's cards, some of which featured pictures of the royal couple! Kate actually visited the facility last February as well with Prince William by her side. At the moment, however, William is across the Atlantic stationed in the Falklands. He's into his second week of a month-and-a-half-long deployment with a Royal Air Force search and rescue squad.

Kate's schedule isn't slowing down any time soon. Her next outing will be on Feb. 21 at the charity The Art Room, and the first week of March will see her attending events alongside her grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth, and stepmother-in-law Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Eat Cake For Breakfast and Lose Weight, Study Says

If your insatiable sweet tooth is preventing you from losing weight, findings from a recent study may be just the thing to help you slim down. Researchers found those who ate a large breakfast that included something sweet lost weight and were able to keep off more pounds than those who ate a small breakfast.

A group of 193 obese adults (not a huge study) were split into two groups. One ate a large, 600-calorie breakfast that included a sweet item such as a cookie, cake, or doughnut. The other group ate a 300-calorie breakfast with no dessert. Both groups ate the same amount of calories daily: 1,600 for men and 1,400 for women.

Leave it to Kate and Laura Mulleavy to not only draw a star-studded front row - hello, George Lucas, Natalie Portman, and Dakota Fanning - but to deliver a stellar, 1940s-inspired Fall '12 collection too. One part cave-drawing-infused, one part retro femme, and one part Australian outback-reminiscent, Rodarte showcased a beautiful mix of totally girlie pieces with both red-carpet appeal and wearable ladylike style. The sister duo paid close attention to feminine details á la Peter Pan collars, artfully structured ruffles, and metal star appliqué hair combs. Yet, never ones to shy away from throwing some quirk into the picture, they added literal hand prints to long, flowy evening gowns and added cowboy buckles to double-strap leather belts. The biggest covet-worthy takeaway from today's show? After several seasons of collaborating with key shoe designers like Nicholas Kirkwood and Christian Louboutin, the Mulleavy sisters debuted their first-ever in-house shoe collection.
