Playgrounds are normally a place for parents and their tots to let loose, but New York City parks have given youngsters something to cry about. Children running barefoot have gotten second degree burns on the bottom of their feet from the black rubber matting that lines the ground of their local playgrounds providing cushion for tots. The flooring can heat up to 166 degrees and as a result children who have taken off their shoes have had the soles of their feet singed.

If you don't want blisters on the soles of your wee one's feet, there's one style of shoes that work better than the rest.
Water shoes, the soft, flexible, quick-drying slippers that provide traction for your tot on the beach and in the surf leave lil chance for your child's bare feet to touch the hot sand or heated ground around the swimming pool.

Though my girl only wore them around the house to play dress up, her feet are not strangers to an arch. While shopping for dress shoes at Nordstrom, there were several wedge and tiny kitten-heel styles available in her size!

Up and at 'em! Forget lounging around in some old sweatpants and being waited on hand and foot after delivering a baby. New mamas are wheeled out of the hospital faster than you can say "discharge papers" and are on their feet in no time.

Shoes may make an outfit, but when it comes to children's feet, function often takes precedence. Some of mama's favorite designers are shrinking down their styles to make lil ones' feet as fashionable as adult footwear.
Simple: Puma's Speeder Mesh Sneaker ($38) has been a popular shoe among the toddler set for some time.

Every day, an estimated 216,000 babies are born worldwide. Many suspect a spike in those birthed today, 9/9/09, as suspicious-minded mamas go for the trifecta date. Some will employ labor-inducing tactics while others may have picked the triple nine time for their scheduled C-section.
