It's amazing what moms invent when we're standing in line with a fussy lil one at the grocery store or passing time in a waiting room at the doctor's office. I've invented a few fool-proof ways to distract my 2-year-old for at least a couple of minutes each. Try out these tricks on your own tot.

I think it's creepy when horror movies incorporate circus music and clown images into their scary scenes. Though I don't mind clowns, I've seen a fair share of kids freak out the second they saw Bozo.
So it's not too surprising that the Nursing Standard magazine reports that children are afraid of clowns.

Mommy's going on vacation without the wee ones leaving daddy in charge. While many fathers are beyond capable of manning the house on their own, they often times need to be prepped like they're going into war. An instruction manual with schedules spelled out, babysitter information and playdate contacts are filed away for safe keeping should mother not answer the urgent call.

Cell phones can be mommy's best friend and her worst enemy. They can entertain wee ones beyond their wildest imaginations in addition to teaching them the alphabet, shapes and math facts. While they may be excellent distractions for meddlesome miniatures, they can be more menacing for the mature mama.
